Dead man's family's thanks to postal workers

THE family of a man killed by an old school friend have publicly thanked the postal workers that found his body.

Adrian Palmer, then aged 21, was discovered in the early hours of a Saturday morning in May 2006.

He had been strangled and his body left in an alleyway in Tenbury Wells.

Ben Murphy was tried for his murder twice, but both juries were discharged after failing to reach a verdict. Murphy had admitted manslaughter and is now waiting to be sentenced.

Mr Palmer's uncle Steve Palmer said this week: "We would like it known we bear no malice to the rest of Mr Murphy's family and to pass on our appreciation to all the postal workers for what they did upon discovering Adrian, abandoned in the entrance to the car park, on their way to work in the early hours of that Saturday morning.

"In particular, our biggest thanks go to David Jinks and Paula Symonds for all their efforts in trying to revive Adrian. All we can hope is to try and move forward in as positive a manner as possible and be grateful for the fond memories we have of Adrian; we shall never forget him."

Mr Palmer said all the family had wanted from the trial was the truth.

"Whatever the verdict, nothing will ever console us for the loss of Adrian," Mr Palmer said. "All we ever hoped for from the trial was to hear the truth about what actually occurred on that awful night in May last year."

He added: "Adrian wanted to be friendly with people and liked by people; he was upset by the fact certain people would tease and bully him.

Despite this, Adrian was never nasty or vindictive; he only ever wanted to feel safe and secure in the community in which he lived. Always forgiving, if you came to know him, he would be the most reliable and loyal person you could ever wish to meet."
