Late acceptance times proving a hit with customers
We’re helping major customers deliver parcels into our network up to 11.30pm each weekday for next-day delivery, thanks to later acceptance times.
Some of the most well-known high-volume retailers have said they are delighted with our Tracked 24 later acceptance time service, which was introduced at National distribution centre (NDC) in Crick, Northamptonshire, 18 months ago.
Later acceptance times help meet the modern demands of our customers, which in the lead up to Christmas, will be a crucial service.
Although these changes have helped us win new contracts with high-value customers, the retail market is extremely competitive. Customers are requiring later and later order times. That’s why it’s so important that we keep evolving to retain existing business and win new parcels contracts.
Oonagh Gilfillan, NDC plant manager, said: ‘Later acceptance times mean we can receive mail a lot later, process and send out through a fleet of Sprinter vans. That fleet leaves at 1.30am, connecting to mail centres between 4am and 5am.
‘In the past, for some customers to deliver the next day, it had to have left them by 7.30pm. That is too early for customers these days.’
The items are processed by colleagues, including track marshals and inward and outward bay workers.
‘They are responsible for unloading the work and making sure it is connected and dispatched on time,’ said William Gallacher, nightshift NDC manager.
‘We currently process between 3,000 and 7,000 items on weekdays. This will soon rise to more than 10,000 a night.’
After being fine-tuned and perfected throughout 2017, the service will prove its worth during this year’s peak period.
‘Later acceptance times will increase capacity at Christmas and allow people to still get purchases the next day,’ said Oonagh.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Perhaps a special Moya / QueasyJet deal....

And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

So if we've already got later acceptance times and have been doing it for 18 months why is there a need for deliveries to start later????
We all know the agenda is remove indoor work from D.O's and make walks longer, so come on RM stop the bullshit and do the impossible (tell the truth).
