Kobi72. If they were death traps, why did yous take them out. I know I'm no longer in the job but why are so many of yous wondering if your Dom or mcm or Humpty Dumpty is going to hire vans for the pressure. Who gives a toss if your not management then its not your worry. FFS...

It's because they've changed the way they are doing it as of last year they get a few volunteers who want to come off walks (if not reserved get forced on it) and they basically start around 1-2pm depending on what time the 1st duties arrives, normally firms then off you go til 7pm!!! it's a JOKE!! You can't see house numbers after 5pm tops and parcels are sitting in depot all day when you can be out in a hire van offloading them!! I've done last few Christmases on parcels and told the DOM last year it's inneffecient and flawed coz as it gets dark your output halves at least!!! If parcels is their game and their big big priority to be the top player then paying prob about £20 a day if not less to get a van or two to provide a quick and efficient service and stop
The parcels from backing up then they need to get a grip and give us the vans so we can get the job done!!!

No extra vans this Christmas

We've been told no extra vans for us this xmas. It should be interesting watching everything pile up in the yard as there is no room in the office. No doubt the IB guys will be back to deliver parcels out of their car like they do every year. Obviously no security issues in the festive season!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

youre right, but RM wont open their eyes, the way they see it = we have vans so why pay to hire them ?

The best strategy without hiring vans would be to get as many people they can to come in early for extra sorting, then get people out delivering oversize parcels early whilst others prep duties and have the parcel delivery people back for their break. For my office this would mean they could have people out delivering from 7.30 - 10.00 (we start at 7.00 so 30 mins for people to sort out the packages they will take and load vans) This may not clear all large packets but it would get a high number done and the rest can be done after deliveries.

It just takes management foresight, something they never do.They dont plan xmas ever, if they did it would go a LOT more smoothly

No, they don't have a self-enclosed Cargo Space, in fact, some are just USA style pickups

and those that do are far too small for delivery work.
