Foreign Secretary slipped away from the conference for a final night curry
But his Manchester night was interrupted by singing posties from the CWU union
CWU yesterday voted for strike action that could disrupt Christmas deliveries
Boris Johnson was ambushed during a late night curry by singing posties and left his meal without finishing, it was claimed today.
The Foreign Secretary was confronted by the band of CWU postmen performing Jeremy Corbyn's anthem outside the Tory conference in Manchester last night.
The CWU yesterday voted for strike action by Royal Mail staff that could disrupt deliveries in the run up to Christmas.
Mr Johnson was confronted in Manchster's Akbar's restaurant after he slipped away from the Tory conference hours after his main speech.
The group of activists sang 'Oh Jeremy Corbyn' - the ubiquitous song set to the tune of Seven Nation Army adopted by Labour supporters.
A source who saw the incident told the Mirror: 'He was in a private area then sneaked out the fire exit when people sang.
'He sneaked straight out - I'm not sure he had finished.'
The incident came as Mr Johnson faced a growing storm over a glib remark he made about Libya on the conference fringes last night.
At last night's meeting, Mr Johnson said: 'It's an incredible country, beautiful white sands, beautiful seas, Caesars Palace - the real one - incredible place.
'It's got real potential. Young people who want to do all sorts of tech stuff. There is a group of UK business people, wonderful guys, who want to invest in Sirte on the coast, near where Qaddafi was captured.
'They literally have a vision to turn Sirte into the next Dubai - the only thing they have got to do is clear the dead bodies away and then they will be there.'
The room burst into nervous laughter at Mr Johnson's remark, which came at the end of an hour long meeting.
The host intervened to say 'next question'.

Whatever you think of a Boris Johnson, going round to a restaurant to harass him is bad form, no one likes to be stalked and forced to leave a restaurant meal unfinished.
Imagine if Conservative activists decided to harass Corbyn while eating in a public restaurant.

They didn't go round to harras him, it was posted by one of the activists on FB last night. They were dining in the restaurant when they spotted Boris and they saw an opportunity.

Well done - makes us all appear to be a bunch of left-wing louts
... I'm a member of CWU and a postman who supports the ballot result and any action resulting from that, but I certainly do NOT want to be associated with Corbyn and his rag-tag bunch of marxists.

Err, there is an option to opt out of the political levy you know.
ps. the Tories shouldn't really hold their conference up North...its never gonna end well is it ? Stick to the home counties Boris - and take the 'PM's' P45 with you

Bollix to Boris and his curry, what about the two "hanging effigys" outside the conference venue?
There's some really diseased people in the current party of Corbyn, and the old fool can't even see or condemn this sort of action for the negative image it projects.
It won't stop the Tories, but it doesn't help to promote the Labour Party or win converts to his cause.

Well the country is going down hill faster than Theresa May's speech at the conservative party conference and would go down ten times quicker with that buffoon in charge they should just call an election now may even stop us going on strike when we deliver the labour leaflets!

Perfectly reasonable, he's a politician at the end of the day and loves a bit of banter. Not, as some saddos on here have claimed, actions of diseased people.

Some posties singing in a restaurant is hardly scary behaviour. I'm sure he has seen and done worse things at the Bullingdon Club dinners where he and his fellow Old Etonians would get drunk, put their parts in a dead pig's head and smash the place up.JKSmudge wrote: makes us all appear to be a bunch of left-wing louts

It is touching to read the concern expressed for poor old Boris but it would be remiss of me if I didn't point out that he would not piss on any of you if you were on fire.

But what did Boris get up to in restaurants when he was younger ?
