Is it correct that the cwu will have to go through mediation with rm, before calling for strike action, as they signed an agreement in 2013 agreeing to do so?

Depends, if the CWU call a strike then the Agenda For Growth Agreement kicks inrocksausage wrote:Is it correct that the cwu will have to go through mediation with rm, before calling for strike action, as they signed an agreement in 2013 agreeing to do so?

Has the 2013 agenda for growth agreement not become void, rm having broken this agreement with executive action, in closing the pension plan in march 2018?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Depends, if the CWU call a strike then the Agenda For Growth Agreement kicks inrocksausage wrote:Is it correct that the cwu will have to go through mediation with rm, before calling for strike action, as they signed an agreement in 2013 agreeing to do so?

What does this actually mean? We got a hangout today about this too. especially the bit about protections not continuining?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Depends, if the CWU call a strike then the Agenda For Growth Agreement kicks inrocksausage wrote:Is it correct that the cwu will have to go through mediation with rm, before calling for strike action, as they signed an agreement in 2013 agreeing to do so?

What can we expect from this?

That has been denied by Royal Mail as apparently, they are keeping their promise during privatisation that no changes would be made till 2018.rocksausage wrote: Has the 2013 agenda for growth agreement not become void, rm having broken this agreement with executive action, in closing the pension plan in march 2018?
What does it mean - nothing yet we'll have to see how the CWU play it, but as notification of a strike cancels the agreement then the CWU is not really hamstrung by the agreement anyway. It may focus minds though.kingeric wrote:

What can we expect - from Royal Mail more smoke and mirrors, more RMTV and more pleading. From the CWU hopefully a bit of clarification on this point and regular updates via FB and RMC.

To me if they go past 2018 they have not broken there agreement. Surely there lawyers would have looked into this.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:That has been denied by Royal Mail as apparently, they are keeping their promise during privatisation that no changes would be made till 2018.rocksausage wrote: Has the 2013 agenda for growth agreement not become void, rm having broken this agreement with executive action, in closing the pension plan in march 2018?

If we go on strike maybe we will brake agreement.what this means and implications I don't know but I am sure the union lawyers are advising on this situation. Lawyers look like they will be earning there money on both sides..

a straight question to dingo then. how true is it what RM are actually saying about this agenda for growth agreement, and the rules on the dispute procedures? they are actually suggesting we cannot go on strike until ''external mediation' (acas) has been completed. this will take upto at least crimbo. and beyond. I know in my own mind they are talking absolute crap, but can you clarify it is total garbage dingo!! can they block the strike until after Christmas with this 'no strike' deal signed in the AFG agreement in 2013.

So this talk of black Friday dates in the press is pure speculation? People are talking about it like it's been confirmed, but on here and there's no mention of it.

This appears to me to be a pointless debate.
Strikes are not allowed under the terms of that agreement - there was a big 'no-strike' clause in it.
They now say we are not allowed to strike until mediation is completed... well because of that we are not allowed to strike anyway.
We're still gonna strike tho unless they get serious with the talks. What are they threatening to do if we strike before their 'mediation' is completed anyway? Ruin our job and destroy our pay and pensions?
Well.. they've said they'll do that already so we've nothing to lose.
