Can't ever see it happening, there not interested in walking the streets and that came from one of there managers when or collections driver went for the mail (ironic they use our franking machines). While this so called labour goverment lets them cream of the profitable work why would they want a delivery network.

There'll be snow blizzards in August, before we see the "competition" on our streets, delivering something other than D2Ds.mh80 wrote:When are they supposed to be starting thier trials of foot delivery? I thought they were going to trial it in Manchester or Birmingham soon.Anyone seen them?

Why oh why would they want to set up their own end to end delivery service.........when we do it for them so much cheaper than they could do it themselves?mh80 wrote:When are they supposed to be starting thier trials of foot delivery? The governments next move will be to allow TNT access to our delivery offices starting with one or two small scab offices where RM will tender a contract for them to run that particular office for a number of years and the RM employees will be transferred to the private sector and wear TNT uniforms and our vans will be resprayed orange.simply_the_best wrote:We'll probably know soon as RM will probably let them use our DO's and frames to sort their mail, maybe even get underworked posties to sort it for them as well
It won't be long before they move into bigger offices and mail centres until RM is completely broken up.

DHL on deliveries.....
I did see what DHL were up to - advert in the small ads of local paper seeking casual workers with their own transport to deliver their packages etc. on a self employed basis. Sounds like they would drop the stuff off at your house then you get paid for what you deliver. Very unprofessional and not much better than being a paperboy working for your local newsagent. Make up your own opinions from this. Enough said.

Re: DHL on deliveries.....
The mail would never get delivered and there would be a big increase in theft as once the mail is in a posties house he could do what he liked with it and deliver it at his own leisure.Albethere wrote:I did see what DHL were up to - advert in the small ads of local paper seeking casual workers with their own transport to deliver their packages etc. on a self employed basis. I believe that is how it works in Holland and :lfo and :cfo will gladly bring in a similar system here just think no more union and only part time workers to worry about.
Also in Holland the agencies have their own desk and phone within mail centres and when they need extra workers they just call them in.
sounds like croleighton man heaven!!
