Angard Recruit Postal Delivery (Postmen/Postwomen with Driving: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract with Royal Mail)

Post by nothingatthemoment »

For the first time ever Angard are to directly recruit post person delivery roles at various DO's up and down the country . Is this a bid to counter-act any possible strike action that will hit DO's badly .
The roles advertised offer fixed term contracts , with 30 hours Min per week.

It's not just Angard recruiting. Blue Arrow have a load of delivery jobs advertised which aren't on the RM or Angard job sites.

I saw the Blue Arrow jobs come up late one evening last week on Indeed. When I clicked on them, it kept coming up "error 404" but when I went on Blue Arrow's own website, they weren't there. The next day, I looked again & all of them bar one had been removed. The remaining one did go through to Blue Arrow's website. It stated that you would start in October.....strike?!

Well, that didn't go to well.

Having received the e-mail acknowledgement that my application had passed the first stage, I heard nothing further.

Then I received the following, on 10 October:
"This is to advise that all Delivery Driver roles for Royal Mail have now been filled . However we do have work as a Casual Mail Sorter in your local mail centre .

We have transferred your application to your local mail centre today, the team will send an email when we have interview dates available.

If this role is not suitable or you are no longer interested in a mail sorters role please log on to your application and withdraw it . Alternatively you can contact us on 0333 240 8502 , option 2 then option 3 who will be happy to do this for you."

1. I already am a Casual Mail Sorter at the local RMC - even if I have not received any work since 29 September.
2. They cannot even get their phone contact details correct - it is option 3 followed by 4.

I woncer if there ever were any real jobs for postpersons with driving or whether it was all just a ploy to recruit yet more Casual Mail Sorters into the bottom wage rate of the Angard pool of staff.
Now, why am I so cynical? All these months of being employed by Angard with very few shifts might be the cause.

Oh well, I will keep looking. :Boo hoo!

Wouldn't be surprised if this was just a ruse to increase more Mail Center casuals . Dangling a carrot of fixed hours contract, of min 30 hours per week sounded far to good to be true. Using Mail Center casuals on zero hours contracts they can send as many as they like to local DO's , then put them back to MC's when the backlog has cleared.
Good Ol Angard and their tricks.

Now they’ve readvertised the jobs they emailed me to say were filled!

Had the cheek to send me an email about it!
