Plenty in my office (not London) earning £30k+. Full time, 30hrs docket/SA, driving allowance, work place coach, etc, etc.
Wife/girlfriend booking the docket they do over 30hrs.
Most of them mates with DOM and ex managers/ union reps. Most of them on easiest duties. Goes on everywhere.
Union need to be careful. Why would part-timers vote to strike to keep these people in the lifestyle they think they deserve?

Not a fact but pure fiction no one earns £30'000 in RM even the managers don't get paid all that unless above the lower end ones and they don't earn it just given it so the whole pension plot of 2010 exploded in RM face what a bloody surprise!

Just because you don't doesn't mean no-one does.

I take home not far off £30k and I don't do much overtime. Some people do overtime every day and weekends too, they're on the best part of £40-45k. Of course they have no life outside work...

Overtime is not pensionable so get your facts right!

I take home £40000 and a lot in the office are on £50000+ and for managers some are on a lot more. I don't do a lot of overtime either and have a great social life too..

No one earns £30k? Sorry mate, but you are so wrong. Like the guy above says, I was being conservative. Plenty of postmen earning close on £40k. It will be a small, but not inconsiderate minority. If you are happy to work yourself into the ground Royal Mail will find a way to accommodate you. Especially if you have friends in the right places. :silenced

We are talking about pensionable pay here. I did £34k last year but only about £17k was pensionable.

Regardless of OPG total earnings our PENSIONABLE pay is roughly £18,100. Any allowances and O/T are not pensionable. Therefore based on the latest illustration we would receive 72% of the £10,300 after 40 yrs service....£7416pa or £143pw. The illustration is certainly there to mislead!

How come when they announced the original new pension scheme (a year or so ago) we received a personal illustration but this time all we have is a generic one. This leaflet we have just received is nothing more than a leaflet you would get inside a Sunday newspaper for the likes of Aviva trying to entice you into a savings scheme and telling you what you might get if the dice lands your way up. Surely by law they would have to provide something more than this if they are taking your money and investing it.

I Looked at the pension illustration It was based on people with 30 to 40 years service on 25k .I would say that is not a fair representation of the average worker .It had nothing to do with me so I chucked it in the recycling bin and then took my ballot paper and voted yes!end of discussion .Except it was a waste of paper. The management do think we have no brains.

But using it as an example in a pension leaflet when the majority neither work in London, work in Logistics or have pensionable overtime pay Is unhelpful, disingenuous and unfair for Royal Mail to do and frankly members listing that they do earn this amount and it's pensionable when they are in a minority, although factual, isn't helping anyone except Royal Mail.

Royal Mail should use the average basic wage of a FTimer for reference, and that's about 17-21K depending on when they joined.
