Last time it was rolling days strike we were given plaques in the windscreen to show people on the picket lines that we were striking on a different day these were from the union

I'd prefer to loose a days pay.

It wasn't a choice it was the way the union planned it so we striked on different days maybe you would have been the only one in the country then

I was told by HR on my induction that they are planning to move to a 7 day week, "so don't be surprised if we ask you to work on Sundays".
No way in hell they will get rid of Sat deliveries as "that's what customers want".

Personally I would be glad of 9am starts. 6am is murder in the winter. People just aren't designed to get up and stumble round in the dark. I've never been to a workplace where so many people are constantly on the stimulants... fags / coffee / red bulls. Can't be good for you.

Speak for yourself. I've been up and capable from lark-fart for many decades - long before RM employment too.

I wonder why anyone would previously have considered a postie job if they found early mornings a struggle.

It's a bit like going for a marathon if you don't much enjoy running!

I'm fine with 6am any time of the year but 6pm would be murder in the winter.
I'm just not designed to carry on stumbling round in the dark late afternoon to early evening. :thumbdown

The most we'll be out is 1-2 days per week, this will cause chaos in the pipeline and more importantly bring a whole heap of unpleasant pressure on the board from shareholders to resolve the situation. Of course it will mean some sacrifice from us but nobody should be starving and at that rate they know we can keep this up far longer than they can keep the sharks at bay.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

With royal mail in their latest bumf talking about new starters employed to cover new shift patterns and negotiation with current workers, maybe the plan is to offer us a monday-friday with the later hours and employ part time workers for Saturday and Sunday only working. Let's be honest if we got a vote on that im guessing alot of people would suck up the late star and finish times for Monday to Friday

Spot on.

This is the crucial point that many people are overlooking... in all previous strikes RM were never under any pressure from shareholders to get issues resolved.

This incompetent CEO and board have actually been getting a very easy time of it thus far from shareholders despite the dismal performance of the SP... they could now, hopefully, get a long overdue kicking.

They will also be getting a lot of stick from the DSA companies who'll be looking for compensation if their work isn't delivered

Employing loads of part time workers for Saturday and Sunday only working would cost money so they won't do that. :arrrghhh

Some of the better managers ask you at the start of the duty, if you'll cross, or take on board what you say.
Some send you out regardless, even knowing you'll not cross any picket line.

Well that's a Shite situation Sweepster. :thumbdown Hope it works out better for you this time, perhaps you could get some of your fellow drivers, on their days off, to stand at your gate with an Official Picket Banner? Then you might not have to leave the yard and waste your days driving, if the Managers being an ARSE? :hmmmm I'm no expert perhaps there's others out there that might share an effective strategy that's worked in the past? Good Luck mate. :thumbup

I have been a postman for nearly 30 years in my time have always voted YES for strike action and sometimes have voted for stronger action than the union was prepared to offer us over numerous disputes on the final vote of acceptance. What I will never do is undermine our unions position as talks are on going or say we cannot win before we even start and lot's of good things came out of these agreements so good Royal Mail want too take them away and have you on no terms of employment. But one thing that we can all agree on is your democratic right the right too vote you cannot have an option of I don't care this is the time too stop sitting on the fence or you will be picking splinters out of your arse for the rest of your life this is not a joke we are fighting for everybody's retirements here. I started nearly 30 years ago as a teenager nearly 50 now retirement comes sooner than you think so think on and vote YES but just vote this vote maybe the most important vote you ever cast!

Unfortunately, I think that would fall foul of the Secondary Picketing rule that the tories outlawed. You can't have a picket line except at a place of work and supported by a ballot and official notification.
