They moved all the IPS frames, packet halts, delivery frames etc to new "premium" time saving locations based upon portering runs with nobody else allowed to waste time by leaving their frames. It lasted all of 2 days until the management realised that we are chronically understaffed (we were before this was introduced, and have been ever since) and porters had to be put on IPS or throwing out deliveries otherwise the deliveries were going out even later than before. They are even going to revert to the old office layout as it works better if porters aren't deployed.

Considering that savings and efficiency are all the rage to management, why are they still persevering with this time and money wasting crap, albeit now with a fancy title?
Ha!! Brilliant,it's that old fact v fiction debarkle, coming to an understaffed, part time, low morale, stick beating penny pinching, management not managing office near you, beam me up Scottie!!!!

Happened at our office. We had around 8 IPS frames, and they halved this when they changed the layout of the office as other sections got brought in. Now if we get heavier than expected mail volumes the managers call everybody and anybody up to walk-sort - but where do you walk-sort when there is no IPS frame to walk-sort into?? :left:
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
