I'm sure that Royal Mail will be pulling out all the stops to dissuade staff from going on strike though - things like no Xmas bonus for those who strike.

Is there any chance that we could get Unite, the managers Union on board with ours to strike?? Wouldn't our managers stand to lose out more than us pension wise

As I understand it, the abysmal turnout of 28 per cent does not qualify the ballot as meeting the minimum requirement to support industrial action in the eyes
of the law. A minimum turnout of 50 per cent is required with 40 per cent (of that 50 per cent) voting for industrial action.

The manager's ballot was a consultation one, not an Industrial Action one. Basically, it was whether to accept the offer or not. The actual turn out has no bearing on the matter, its a simple case of majority voting.

Although the low turn out will affect the negotiations there are no legal implications, it was still a narrow rejection.

I know its probably somewhere on the forum, but just so that I know (I may be able to use this info shortly) what was the consultative ballot on exactly ? The turnout was 28% - what was the outcome/result of those that returned their ballot papers ?
