Monthly pay upfront 'incentive'
I've heard a few whispers that they are going to push for monthly pay, but they will pay out a lump sum up front one of the figures mentioned to me was £2,000 that would then be deducted again from the monthly wages over a period of time. The people i were speaking to didn't know if it was on an interest free basis or not though one said it was the other said it wasn't??? Not sure they'd be allowed to charge employees interest and make a profit from lending them their own wages though?

Even if they wanted to push this more,they would have to GIVE us the money,none of this paying it back malarky.

it has just happened to the drivers at NDC Crick and they were offered a lump sum but it will be deducted again each month from their salary over a year. Still getting mixed response as to whether it is interest free or not though as they only pop into my office have a moan over a cuppa and wander off again!!

Don't know if it's actually gone through for drivers yet, but my understanding is that all drivers will be paid a £2000 lump sum that will then be 'recovered' by deduction over 12 months, from whenever it finally gets implemented. It is most definitely interest-free. Much as I'd like it, if the union couldn't secure a one-off NON-RECOVERABLE lump sum for the drivers' deal, I doubt whether we would get one for switching to monthly pay either. Imagine the drivers reaction if that happened.

Hi All,
I had a bit of an update from Crick NDC today. They will receive their last weekly pay on 29th June, in which they can opt to receive a £2,000 'loan' to carry them through to their next pay day of 31st July. This will then be deducted over the next year, deducted directly from the monthly pay.

Staff Cuts
My guess is that they would try and get rid of some payroll staff and maybe some other administration roles if they could get everyone over to monthly, not to mention save on printing and postage of all the payslips. I would guess that unless you guys can come up with a good argument against it, they will gradually change everyone over a slice at a time

I was on monthly pay for 12 years (military).
It takes some getting used to but even now all my bills are paid is the first week of each month (my husband is still paid monthly) My weekly pay just pays off the overdraft and puts food on the table - and sometime we still struggle at the end of the month.
When I was on monthly pay all changes had to be declared before the 15th of each month to be actioned.
As RM can't get overtime, D2D and other payments right weekly why should I trust them to do it monthly.
When I was on monthly pay everyone else was on the same contract terms, the primary variable was rate of pay. No part time contracts to worry about.
As RM has so many different contract terms (40, 32, 28, 27.5, 25, 20 hours etc) I don't think that it would ever be cost effective to force monthly pay on everyone.

Personaly it wouldnt matter to me how much money they offered me to take monthly pay, if it meant that people would lose their jobs because i had accepted a few gold coins for selling out fellow workers, how many times have we sold ourselves out for money, they can feck off, Leighton and Crozier can stick my blood money up their sphinkters...
