One signing on point.

Bristol Mail Centre wanted one signing on point as people arrived for work. The managers would stand there picking who they wanted to work as the long line signed their names slowly under the gauntlet of eyes. Luckily for the managers the union has said no. You could imagine the favouritism that would go on. It is another attempt to remove any responsibility and trust and to make the postmen feel worthless. There is an endless dumbing down of the work in mail centres and to take any control over ones day away and give it to the bodywatchers. Do not they not realise that getting rid of 318's and duties is what led to this decline in quality in the first place.

We've had a single signing on point for a good few years now

318s have never gone away, management are just making use of the "as directed" bit that's on everyone's 318

Believe it's the case where you can ask to see your 318 though management will try to fob you off
with some sort of guff as is the case in my MC.They use any old crap about "how the job has changed"
and 318 are a "thing of the past" .If you want clarification of your duties ask to see your 318, it is your
entitlement.

We had same issue on 318s managers tried hiding them so got onto union rep who got them reprinted much to managers disgust. So don't be robbed off by management trying the old line as directed. They tried this on me and colleagues then got Agency doing our jobs so went and got Union Rep to sort out which they did.
Now at quiet time of year and Summer lapsing we can't even clear customers mail but we are told its a budget thing really !!!!!!
