I take it you never got the revision carrots (£1500 i think) that offices got after the revisions? In hindsight i bet most would hand it back to revert to how you are working

Definitely not - was that each?

One downside is we are kept in the dark about everything. I think we're sort of hidden, like a dirty little secret.

Yes, I'm sure it was for the park and loop revisions, £1000 and £500 for each mug, I mean postie after the hell was brought in. Then again it could have been a different change I'm sure it was either the way forward or some other crap

How long is an average delivery in your office? It sounds mental, our walks are so busy these days we leave stuff in half the time because there's nobody to cover it. Twelve years ago my walk was a good two hours shorter than now, if not more!

The average is four hours. Some are closer to three, though. There are some that are a bit longer. If it takes you four and a half hours to deliver, you're having a bad day.

It's strange, really. We're so behind in terms of methods according to these replies, but mail just never gets left like you describe. That just doesn't happen. If it did, that would be major drama.

But it's an acquired taste. We've been signed off as not fit for purpose by the area health and safety rep in the past. But nothing ever came of it. Yorks are climbed over for lack of space and the coffin makes a nice bed when you're waiting for the van.

5am start and on a good day, done for 12. Never a problem whacking all your break on the end, so long as you've cleared of course.

Seriously no one else like this any more?

Sounds like you are using the methods prior to RM deciding to make us more "Efficient"? Obviously they hadn't heard of the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it!". Instead they prefer to try and justify their disgustingly high salaries by coming up with stupid ideas to try and sink us! :arrrghhh

Is this a wind up or what? If it's true it would be very very interesting to compare the relative efficiency with a modern park and loop office. I bet the old style is way more efficient with few vans to pay for. Feel sorry for the packet guy delivering 15 walks sign outs though.

How on earth do you get your mail for 5am? Is it sequenced? We don't get our last lorry till 7.30-8am.

No DO would get their wave 2 sequenced by 05:00. The batch orders start with the DO furthest away from the MC with the ones being nearest being sequenced last

It isn't a wind up, but I understand why it sounds that way.

We don't get all of our mail at 5am. And we don't all start at that time. Some come in an hour later.

But there is enough manual sorting to start around that time for half of the office.

Start times are very, well fluid shall we say. The mentality is more, do you get the job done and keep people happy? If so, then you're fine.

I bet you're in some ones pending tray and they will get to you eventually. In my area served by the old MLO there was once over 20 SPDO's these have been picked off on by one and are now in the new delivery office. Before this happens you could be hit by the tsunami wave of Royal mails new proposals anyway.

I bet you are a lot happier in your work than other offices that are run by bullying so called managers
