The charity trust fund has managed to raise in excess of £35,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action following the sad death of the Royal Mail delivery man
Excitement is building ahead of a charity fun day and football match held in memory of popular Cleethorpes postman Shaun Wright.
The annual fundraiser, organised by Shaun's wife Becky, their daughter Lucia and friends, will take place at the Linden Homes Club, Clee Road, Grimsby, with money raised going towards Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Shaun sadly died at the age of 47 in April 2015 while watching football at home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
His funeral at the Grimsby Crematorium was attended by some 400 relatives and friends, with the cortege led by a Royal Mail van carrying his coffin.
A charity trust - The Shaun Wright Foundation - was set up by Becky and Lucia and through various fundraising events they have since managed to raise a staggering sum of more than £35,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Speaking about the launch of the charity trust, Becky, 44, of said: "Cancer has ruined Shaun’s life but I am determined that it will not ruin mine and Lucia’s. Something good has to come out of such an awful situation.
"Shaun would have been humbled by all the support.
"It’s kept us (Becky and Lucia) focussed. The more we have raised, the more we keep changing the goal posts. We keep exceeding every expectation. It really feels like you are putting something back into helping other families. It’s a really humbling feeling."
Becky added: "People are so kind with offering raffle prizes and baking cakes! The support we have is outstanding and I am forever grateful.
"Everyone always asks when the fun day is. They come with their families, enjoy the match, the stalls and all the other stuff we have going on, then sit and watch some live bands. It's a fantastic day remembering my wonderful husband, who was family man and would have loved it too."
There will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained at this year's charity extravaganza, with family games, charity football, bouncy castles, children's characters, children's ride and face painting.
There will also be live music, a BBQ and much more.
Raffle prizes include a £250 holiday voucher, a flying experience and a coffee machine. They can be bought for 25p each at Becky's shop, Holidays By Design, at 5, St Peter's Avenue, Cleethorpes.
