RM wanting to ditch "legacy payments" for what will no doubt be a single token gesture lump sum is laughable. Those of us that have been employed since before ~January 2010 receive ~£500 pro rata per year (before Income Tax) from "ICS Supplement" alone, on the first Friday of each new month. Weren't these "legacy payments" originally put in place as bargaining chips for changes in the past that us long serving OPGs have had to endure?

Not sure if it was the PDA propaganda or the rain, but our "high tech" PDAs were an absolute nightmare today, had to reset them so many times!

Eh?

I've been an OPG a lot longer than 2010 and I've never heard of or never received an ''ICS Supplement'' on the first Friday of every month!?

Does it actually show up as ''ICS Supplement'' on your wage slip?

So does EVERY OPG who has been employed prior to 2010 get it?

Or just every OPG who has some form of legacy payment?

It is a specified line on our wage slips. I forget the exact reason why our longer serving depot OPGs receive "ICS Supplement," I think it might be tied in with IPS sorting performance, but I could have my wires crossed.

No.
I think the ICS and PBS payments relate to savings made by the office you were in at some distant point in history.
If your office made no savings your ICS/PBS would be zero.

It gets worse.
If you were in a really inefficient office the opportunities for savings were greater and hence the larger payments.
If you were in an efficient office you hardly get any payment because there were no more savings to be made.
Some people don't even work in that office any more yet the legacy payments follow them from office to office.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Sounds a decent bloke. Won't last long as a dom. Sadly.

If there was no damage to the business then it'd be a wasted strike

Isn't the whole point of threatening to strike to be....well, threatening?

say we strike on a Monday, by the next day you get people coming in panicked that they may have to actually work to their finish time that day, fly around their deliveries to get it all cleared and get caught up so they dont have to worry about it for the rest of the week... congratulations this strike has now benefitted RM and saved them a lot of wages, they may ask us to have one every week.

If the strikes are planned around xmas I doubt anybody will be flying around with two days worth of xmas mail and parcels, there clearly rattled by potential xmas strikes, and reading between the lines of these pda memos they clearly have no intention of coming to a agreement that cwu would recommend us to accept, so lets hit them where hit them where it hurts, I can't afford to strike on my contract but I bloody well will do when it comes down to it
