ROYAL Mail is urging customers not to be fooled by a fake missed delivery notices that could see recipients conned out of £45.
Criminals are currently posting the notice though unsuspecting homeowners’ doors, advising them they have missed a delivery.
The bright red card is almost identical to the “something for you” cards which are delivered by Royal Mail when they are unable to hand over a package or letter.
And they even have the exact same layout, detailing how to collect the supposedly missed delivery and which number to call to have the item ‘redelivered’.
However the scam note, which is distinctly lacking the Royal Mail crest, also advises the recipient to call a number not registered to the British firm.
In a post shared more than 60,000 times on Facebook, it was revealed that dialling the number will charge the caller a whopping £45.
The post read: “Fake parcel notes - the fake one will charge you £45 if you call the number and does not have a Post Office logo on.
“Please don’t get conned. Was told about this today and had to share.
“Please be aware. Fake at the top.”
In the top left hand corner, both notes appear with the ‘postman’s’ handwriting detailing the date, name of the recipient and their address.
While below, the two cards also read “Sorry we missed you. Your item is…” followed by a list of options including “with your neighbour” and “in a safe place”.
And in the top right-hand corner, the notices outline what identification is needed to collect items.
A keen-eyed Twitter user also noticed the images online and shared them with the caption: ""Watch out scam"Top one with Royal Mail logo Genuine. Bottom one "Fake".
"No logo theywill bill you £45 if you ring number.. be vigilant."
