I know you used to label Jeremy Corbyn as a zealot didn't you FT - and then, lo and behold, he went and polled 40% of the electorate !!!
That aside, I hope you aren't trying to say that I am somehow a zealot FT  Because I can back up my arguments with facts old son - in this case facts regarding social mobility and educational achievement between the classes according to IQ. That means I'm not a zealot, but that I am, in fact, educated.

Anyhow - I'll let it go. I'll just say that some seem to be seeing the world askew.

A 40% share of the vote, which is rather different.

jetblack wrote:If the question were not one of skilled/unskilled but based on the utility to society I could name very many jobs that are better paid than that of the postman. And most of the people who are in those jobs are there not because of skill level but because they have the educational tickets. Having educational tickets is most times a function not of merit but of life chances available to the individual - that is a fact.
So I, for example, after not having had the life chances as those more fortunate than myself, and so the educational qualifications, am supposed to be punished yet further by having to either be unemployed (because there are far fewer jobs available than the number chasing them) or be lucky enough to have a job on a zero hours contract and not receive sick pay when I'm ill.
Meanwhile, Mr.Zero Utility to Society is getting £240,000 a year plus bonus for creating car debt (he doesn't sell it mind you - there's someone else doing that for £240,000) all cos his parents could send him to the right school.
Yet I contribute whilst he is a part of the reason the country is going down the pan.

We do a worthwhile and honest job - and doing it well is a skill - we form a union because we have more in common than what seperates us, we know our real value even if our employer doesn't, and we are prepared to stand together so as to stop anyone exploiting us.

Help yourself by helping us - join the union.

It's been fifty hours since SOB has posted on here. :thumbup
I'm not sure if he's gone away or is spending a couple of days reflecting on all the common sense that we've been telling him. :cuppa

Will people please be more careful. We all know Managers lurk on here and a strike is probably coming, don't make it easy for them to sack you on a B&H charge. In other words don't bait people for a response, treat them with the respect you think YOU deserve, not the reverse.

TBT,
Yes, we all know that we're on a better hourly rate etc. than the courier companies but not only do we have certain issues at work also the constant repetition in the Courier eats away at our patience, and so it would be most unfortunate if the antagonistic postings of one person provoked any of us to make a comment too far on here.
Repeated "Union Barons", "union masters" and "like a sheep" is more than those of us who have put a lot of time and effort into union work over the years should have to put up with. :thumbdown

My only wish is that all union members use their vote regardless of which way they go. Sadly over many years less and less members return their papers resulting in less than 60% voting thus on close calls it does not give a true reflection of opinion. So please it costs nothing return your ballot paper, after all your subscription paid for it.

If it was a hypothetical 100% turnout the vote could still be 50:50.
Who'd claim the moral high ground then?

Well it's not guaranteed to be accurate.
Anyway, what the timescale for the ballot and strike ?
