This "them and us" attitude encouraged all the while by the unions needs to stop. We are a privatised company now and we are all in it together whatever our role is in the business.

Remember that shareholders are also our customers and the vast majority of colleagues are also shareholders. Rejoice in the freedom and enterprise that privatisation brings.

Socialism is dead and buried and the world has moved on.

You missed my point entirely do you really believe that the company will look after you? That remark has nothing to do with the union I am glad my future doesn't depend on this company as I honestly believe we will be on the minimum wage as soon as the company can introduce it but I would wager the likes of the head of the company will not be taking any pay cuts

Do you think its ok then for the average postman to shoulder the burden of producing more and more profits off the back of reducing our terms and conditions, pension and pay? So we can pay the share holders more dividends. I understand we are a business but at some point we have to stand up and say enough is enough. We have families to feed, bills to pay and also have dreams we would like to fulfil. Not to mention we would like to be more than just surviving in retirement.

So like a sheep you choose to follow 85% of people who voted for industrial action in a forum poll.

I am not interested in repeating the union line over and over just because it might be popular to do so. 85% of the public might say the rich should pay more taxes, but that doesn't mean it is right or indeed an accurate reflection of public opinion.

If you hate your job so much then you know where the door is. There are many, many others out there who would jump at the opportunity to be paid what you are paid for unskilled labour.

The world of work has changed enormously for millions of employees in the last few decades. If you don't like what Royal Mail offers you then you know where the door is. Find me other unskilled jobs that offer the pay and benefits that Royal Mail offers. You might struggle.

I suggest many people have bad backs and knackered knees through job and finish.

I know of many in my office who ignored the bag weights and carried ridiculously heavy bags so they could finish as early as possible are knackered!

Warehouse workers, labourers, nurses, nearly all tradesman, sportsman, care workers, road repair men, bin men, porters, coach drivers, landscape gardeners.
Took me 30 seconds to think of those few.

I'm sure I could come up with a lot more too !

Sob we want to protect what royal mail offers, not see the clock wound back on our hard fought terms and conditions. If we all had the same mind set as you we would have no union, no pension, no full time work, 0 hour contracts, self employed you name it. But that would be ok with you? because we should be grateful to even have a job. Even though the managers at the top get every increasing pay, gold plated pensions. And you said we should change "the them and us" mind set. You are just making the gap between them and us even bigger. Im just grate full that your opinions are not shared amongst us hard working posties.

SOB I just can't relate to any of your posts :-/
You seem to live in a wonderful world of RM similar to how courier
Portray the company in that waste of environment piece of crap that comes through my door every month.
With your hatred of the union you are either
A) manager
B) editor of courier
C) shareholder
D) RM spy

Or just a troll, no decent postie would be happy with the current state of this company and uncertainty of our future.

I would appreciate you not using the pejorative to describe people who hold a different opinion to you. It's becoming tiresome and repetitive.

(Not in green)
Please elaborate on this comment.
Leftist dinosaurs
Union Barons
union masters

It demeans people who support the Union but are by no means are dinosaurs or militants, it also devalues your position if you have to resort to Daily Mailesque descriptions.

Ultimately most people think for themselves.

But the main reason is you using such language is against the spirit of the rules of this board, and make it harder to deal with the "Management Plant" posts you are getting.

TBT,
Yes, indeed, "Leftist dinosaurs", "Union Barons" and "union masters" are just three of SOB's insults.
And there's "So like a sheep you choose to follow 85% of people who voted for industrial action in a forum poll" as if anybody that ever votes with the majority, such as in a general election, is a sheep.
But, with his deluded pomposity, SOB probably sees himself as the wise shepherd and our saviour. :arrrghhh

another couple of quotes by SOB, which are both totally wrong......''if you don't like what royal mail offer you'...' and ...''find me other unskilled jobs that offer the pay and benefits that royal mail offers''!!! .....is that a joke?? Royal Mail do not freely OFFER these benefits and pay. these were fought for and WON by the DINOSAUR as he puts it, that is the UNION. Take that dinosaur out of the equation and what do you think our pay and terms would be??...it would be MINIMUM wage, less holidays, zero hours contracts. don't make out RM have freely given us what we have. they were fought for and won by strikes. I wonder if some of the union haters on here would still do this job for minimum wage?? don't think so!!
