Disregard and disrespect for management is not stirred up by union agitators. Managers (and I use that term loosely) are solely responsible for any disrespect they garner. Never in my working life have I encountered management like it, and I've served in the forces and been to war. I have managers that I refuse to even talk to because of their numerous and repeated lies, threats and intimidation, I used to let the lies etc go at the start, but how many times should I turn the other cheek. It's water off a ducks back nowadays but I had it daily for years because they couldn't manage. In fact if some of them spoke to me outside of RM the way they have spoke to me in work and expected me to just take it, they'd be very much mistaken.
Well said, superports. When I started with RM years ago I had total respect for my managers, they treated us well and with respect.Always please and thankyou.
Nothing like this now, lies contempt, bullying and intimidation. When I left I had no respect whatsoever for my so called managers.Just glad to get out.In the end I hated the job that I loved, all due to the appalling treatment dished out. :no no

I've not gone through every post, and although this doesn't affect me, what happens to those who are PT and have 2nd jobs. Later starts would probably mean them giving up one or another. Is this not effectively constructive dismissal?

Had my shifts changed a few months back from 6.30 - 2.30 to 10.02 - 5.50.

I now do a walk, and then have a collection. So far, so good. Being one of the better workers in the morning, it's good not being watched like a hawk, and used to mop up the slack of anyone who is under-performing. One of the biggest positive's is being away from the simple minded racist/homophobic/misogynist/sexist colleagues.

I suppose after being mocked by my colleagues on how i was getting a later finish than they were, this would be some bittersweet vengeance. :funneh

In the grand scheme of things however, i feel - like many others - this would be a step in the wrong direction, but it's not exactly uncommon for Royal Mail to moonwalk it's way to prosperity.

Same here, I was moved to a later time too. I now do a short delivery and a collection. Sometimes do overtime. I honestly prefer starting earlier and finishing earlier but oh well.

I was moved out of necessity unfortunately, and had to comply due to my situation.

I don't want any overtime as studying part time, so not only would it eat into my study hours, but could jeopardize my funding, and with duty being too big, i leave them a loop so i can have my break then do my collection.

I do agree the early start's and finishes are good, although horses for courses. A senior colleague opted for a collection duty because it suited their circumstances better than the early shift.
