The fact of the matter is it's far from the truth !
The company is in a complete mess right now and the only people to blame for this is RM not the CWU !
Without the Cwu No doubt we would have the worst t&c and added workload to the current pressures they currently pile on us.
We need to fight for our rights, I for one am defiantly striking !!!
You are merely churning out the usual union propaganda. You are being misled by a union that will destroy our business if it gets its way. If you want to go the same way as the coal industry then go ahead and do as your union masters are instructing you to.
You seem to have an agenda...
What agenda would that be? I am independent of the unions and of management.
I don't know if I quite believe that...
The union wants privatisation to fail. I want it to succeed.
The union wants to continue the age old "them versus us " attitude towards management. I want us to work together for the good of all.
I want hard workers in Royal Mail to be recognised and rewarded. The union screams "unfair" and "discrimation" as it offers protection to the shirkers.

If you want to be a sheep and slavishly follow the orders of your union masters into oblivion then go for it. History is littered with union failures and industrial decline.

I will not support that.
SOB,
So have you any evidence for "The union wants privatisation to fail"?
My experience is that the union only wants to represent and protect the workforce.
As for "sheep and slavishly follow the orders of your union masters" that's downright insulting as if only yourself is capable of thinking things through. :arrrghhh
I actually believe that well supported strikes are more likely than ever, not only because of how we've been treated lately but also because RM is 'managed' for the shareholders not the customer now and whereas we had, and have, respect for the customer we don't respect the shareholders, oh, and month after month every Courier spouting the same propaganda can only turn us against what was once a company we had respect for. :thumbdown

I wouldn't even say RM is ''managed for the shareholders''... there can't be any shareholders who are satisfied with the current dismal performance of the SP and it's only the relatively high divi that's keeping shareholders satisfied, once the divi starts to get reduced (which it surely will if the SP carries on performing so badly) the large institutional investors will soon lose patience with this current CEO and board.

well, sob, lets look at the facts of privitisation, since thatchers era!!! what does it achieve? less workforce, that's a given, better jobs? definitely not, better pay? no, the pay of the workforce is usually slashed, funnily enough, the pay of the board of these companies rises astronomically!!! I have never understood that!!! pension funds raided to offset redundancy payments(BT), who gains out of privitisation? the government, oh yes, they get paid millions out of it, the workers get shafted, the public? get what exactly?, privitisation??? you can keep it!!!!

The ridiculous folly of Privatisation is that, yes, the government receives a sh*t load of money in flogging the shares.
If, however, they'd kept it in public hands, this week's dividend* - and all future ones - could have either a' given the taxpayer's coffers a boost every year in perpetuity or b0 been re-invested in the business !!!

No privatisation = No shares = No Dividends for anyone.

The profits and more ( taxpayers money ) would need to be put in to modernise this dinosaur !

Don't forget shareholders invest money into RM.

It's not as one sided as the majority of this board thinks.

I think a lot of you also think a Corbyn govt would renationalize and it will be back to the easy days of pre 2010.
Never going to happen.

Just maybe postpeople will gain from Privatisation as no investment will mean RM fall behind competitors.
Lose business = Job losses.

DPD are miles ahead of RM !

Agreed. Privatisation is the best thing to happen to Royal Mail and time will show that.

Nationalisation is an old failed political dogma and nobody apart from Corbyn, the unions and a ragbag of leftist dinosaurs actually believe in it. Nationalised industries were always overstaffed, inefficient and loss making.

Funny how Royal Mail were turning over a few hundred million in profit when owned by the Government. And the service was better, and customers were happier.

It's the same old with any privatised industry, stops working for the customer, and works for the shareholders instead.

I take it, then, you refused the free shares offered to you when Royal Mail was privatised?

As someone who also runs a small business from I think the quality of service is much improved.
Signed For's always get signed for now - the amount of times customers would receive them without signing was high.

I would appreciate you not using the pejorative to describe people who hold a different opinion to you. It's becoming tiresome and repetitive.

Last time the union called industrial action there was not a single colleague at the gates at my office and actually about a third of the office turned up for work.

Union militants think they have power and are well supported, but when push comes to shove, a lot of colleagues will not support you.

Gloat if you will about taking good industrial action, but it will achieve nothing.

I have risen to your bait SOB I don't know what world you live in but if you honestly think this company will look after their workers you are in my opinion deluded if it wasn't for the work force standing together we would be on the worst conditions royal mail could get away with
