We plan all year round to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible service to our customers throughout the Christmas period.

Once again, this year we are recruiting thousands of extra people from local communities to help our permanent colleagues deliver a fantastic Christmas.

Our annual friends and family campaign runs from 31 August to 17 September - and we need your help to make it a success.

As before, we’re looking for reliable, hard-working people to work mainly in mail centres and parcel sort centres. Applicants must be over 16 and be able to:

Stand for long periods of time
Lift up to 11kg
Push wheeled containers up to 250kg
In return, we offer competitive rates of pay and a wide variety of shifts at various locations across the UK.

How can friends and family apply?



Ask your friends and family to email their details to friendsandfamily@royalmail.com any time after 28 July
They will be sent an automatic email response containing a website link they can use to apply for locations they are interested in. Please note: the website goes live on 31 August
Friends and family must apply via this linK by Sunday 17 September to be guaranteed an invitation to a registration event. If they apply after this date or they don’t use the website link, they will be considered but there will be no guarantee of an invite
Friends and family must be available to attend a registration event from w/c 25 September. The earliest start date will be w/c 6 November.

I had to claw and fight for shifts last year at Christmas while the place was rammed full of casuals

Previous years we would get a block booking for shifts but last year there was nothing

whats the point last xmas we where block booked 4 weeks @ 40 hours then 1st text sundays cancelled 2nd text later start 12 instead of 10 last text final week cancelled so from being booked in 160 hours over 4 weeks lost 100 hours over the 4 weeks . now this year had no work since 2nd week may due to some body only answering calls to people from her own race put in 2 complaints and was fobbed off now don't even get any texts still not even got p45

Angard: totally corrupt and evil organisation. Shifts all go to the thickest, slowest and most inefficient workers! Absolutely true. Down here in Devon you would'nt believe the stupid and utterly inefficient working practices.

Angard: totally corrupt and irredeemably evil. Favouritism is rife. Exeter Mail Centre, one of the worst for Devonian nepotism.

Deciding to cross a picket line is and always will be down to the individual making a choice. The pickets can't stop you, but they can approach you to convince you not to.

That comedian Russell Brand admitted to crossing a RM picket when temping. Make of him what you will. Most of us have already formed opinions about the chap even before hearing that!

RM cant use Angard to access EXTRA workers during a strike. They ARE classed as an Agency, they have a separate corporate identity, whatever the ownership
