Wallington & driving duties

Hi

I'm in my 4th week with RM as a postman and the contract I signed saw 25 hrs p/w Wallington with driving.

I've got CWU involved after the 2nd week as I'm on a rolling day off. Despite assurances from management and union that I'll be placed on a Wallington, I'm still not. Is this common and is there anything else I can do about it? How long might it take to get me changed over?

Also in all pushing the red trolley about. How long might this be expected to last before I get the driving duties I signed up for?

What's a wallington?
Most postie jobs recruit for with driving- does not mean a driving duty.

Rotating day off- most offices decide how they have their days off, 1 in 6 1 in 5 etc... all office agree to this so unless you make special arrangements and have a very good reason to change your day off it will likely remain a rotating day off.

You won't use a van till you are tested.
And a lightweight trolly is part of your equipment for delivering your mail. The van is used to deliver your mail, load a lightweight trolly and deliver all mail.

The contract I signed up for was 6 days on for 5 weeks with 1 week off paid, accumulated from the previous extra day worked over those 5 weeks = Wallington.

They have been told there's nothing they can do for them.

The union rep sent me a message from the manager on saturday saying they hope to get me on the Wallington in 3 weeks time, so fingers crossed they will.
