Put up with what you've got - and if you don't it will only get worse for you.
Is that it ?

It will get a lot worse for you if you take industrial action. Royal Mail will take whatever action is necessary to disrupt and diminish any adverse impacts of industrial action. That is a given.jetblack wrote:Put up with what you've got - and if you don't it will only get worse for you.

Tough times lie ahead and it will require a ruthless, hard-headed approach to get Royal Mail into the best possible commercial shape to take on the challenges our industry faces.
Industrial action may be voted for. It may even happen. It will not, however, reap any benefits for those so eager to throw the company and their jobs over the cliff.
You'll be waiting a long time for this troll idiot to give you a satisfactory answer to that question.
The amount of products and services we offer customers has increased. Our tracked products are hugely important. The investment in PDAS that capture enormous amounts of tracking data, delivery methods equipment such as lightweight trolleys and HCTs are just a few areas where investment has been made.
Too many on here just want to be negative all the time instead of appreciating the positive improvements that have and continue to be made.
On what basis do you comment "When you have something valid and worthwhile to contribute to the discussion then please feel free to do so" and "If you have something worthwhile to contribute to the discussion, then please let's hear it" ?![]()
Do you claim to have great intelligence, more experience or wisdom denied to the rest of us ?
I reiterate my support for the Royal Mail board. We really need to not look at everything as a "them and us" struggle. There are a lot of good, hardworking people in Royal Mail but they are too often overlooked or downtrodden by those who are bone idle and incompetent and happen to have union backing. Big changes are on the way for all of us and industrial action is not going to prevent those changes. All industrial action will do is pave the way for massive job losses.
It's no surprise that you've not answered my two questions and that will help others to judge the lack of credibility of your posts.
I have no need to resort to "personal abuse".
The board of directors are in charge of the management of Royal Mail’s business; they should make the strategic and operational decisions of the company and are responsible for ensuring that the company meets its statutory obligations.
So for "discussing the ISSUES" can you explain your "support for the Royal Mail board" by telling us of any recent "strategic and operational decisions" they have made beyond replacing seriously outdated PDAs, continuing the 'Tracked' brand and reintroducing trolleys ?
Or maybe provoking a strike is a strategic decision.

Only aim is to make as much as they can from what they see as a business in terminal decline. Doesn't have to be that way

It is the union barons and their militant backers who are obsessed with provoking industrial action. I suspect most level-headed Royal Mail employees would rather not go down this road to ruin. Industrial action, if it does occur, will result in enormous job losses and it will be the union that will be left defeated and their members without jobs after such action. It really would be a case of turkeys voting for Christmas.

Given that industrial action will be harmful to those that undertake it, is industrial action, in your opinion, ever justified ?SierraOscarBravo wrote:It will get a lot worse for you if you take industrial action.jetblack wrote:Put up with what you've got - and if you don't it will only get worse for you.

My view is that industrial action is never a solution to any industrial dispute and I would support government legislation to prohibit industrial action.

Should we all sit down, like grown ups, and have a chat over some tea and biscuits do you think ?
Hey, that reminds me - someone was asking about innovations in RM over the last few years - how about the "Have Your Say" survey ?

Royal mail would walk all over us without the threat of IA, we would be in a much worse position than we are today. You don't have to look very far to see this company wastes tonnes of money unnecessarily to realise that the current pension scheme and much more is affordable.SierraOscarBravo wrote:jetblack wrote:Given that industrial action will be harmful to those that undertake it, is industrial action, in your opinion, ever justified ?SierraOscarBravo wrote:It will get a lot worse for you if you take industrial action.jetblack wrote:Put up with what you've got - and if you don't it will only get worse for you.

Without the union, we would all be on Hermes/Yodel terms of working, without a shadow of a doubt.
Support the union and get a fair deal for all.

The board are not doing their job and should be removed immediately before the business collapses and we all out of a job.

exactly SOB, I have commented on most of your replies on here and asked you several questions, but you have not answered one of them, can you just imagine going down your road of outlawing industrial action, minimum wage jobs would be in the majority, I want to see a workforce that is happy in their jobs, that can earn a decent wage so they can pay their bills and have a decent work life balance, a union/management structure that can work together to achieve their aims, instead of one side(management) with all the power, most people at the top, being paid millions every year, sitting in their ivory towers, have no idea about the working classes and do not even care, we need to change this approach, for gods sake, we are in the 21st century now, not in the Victorian times.!!!!

Industrial action,is a right enshrined within the human rights act:question i
"Free speech and peaceful protest: you have a right to speak freely and join with others peacefully, to express your views". The only people not allowed to strike are military personnel and police officers.
I see the poll question is still ambiguous.

Well you’ve certainly put your cards on the table, SOB - thank you for that.
However, while you’re all for moving forward and embracing the future, I’m not convinced a return to the Combination Acts of 1799/1800, when any strike action was made illegal, would represent much progress.
Striking is only used as a last resort after discussions have failed but if you remove from the workforce their right to strike then, ultimately, they would be forced to accept whatever terms the company wished to impose.
Zero hour contracts, the gig economy, have been imposed by employers when they know they can get away with it without facing effective opposition from their workforce. Should we return to indentured servitude?
Whether trade union members or not, the general population has benefited from changes brought about by trade unionism over the past 3 centuries or so. To neuter their bargaining position would leave us all poorer.

In this and previous jobs I've known union members and union representatives all going about their duties in a perfectly sensible way.
How can it all be so different where you are or are the "union barons and their militant backers" just a figment of your imagination ?
It's no surprise that yet again you've not answered my questions, or similar questions from others, so if you can't identify any new money and report any innovations or plans for growth over the past three years then we can all assume that there aren't any and that the RM Directors are not doing very much.
