Evening! Despite having 3 unsuccessful applicatons and having 1 pending, which I have recently applied for I am wondering if anyone else has undergone similar 'luck'?
First application (office about 15 minute drive away/10 miles):
Unsuccessful reason: "it may be that your skills are more suited to one of our other roles".
Second application (office about 10 minute drive away/7 miles):
Unsuccessful reason: "On this occasion due to the high number of applicants you have not been short-listed. As you have successfully completed your on-line accessment we would like to keep you on our database for a short period in case further interview are to be held for this position".
For the second application, the same job was relisted a couple of days later. So I applied again ... and was sent the same reason for being unsuccessful.
Fourth application (office about 20 minute drive away/15 miles):
Pending and still listed on the website. Interview date is listed, which gives me a good idea how I'm doing (or not doing) with that one!
I'm aiming for offices that are close. I'm confident my testing speed is good and accurate. Perhaps my CV or my work background (office based) doesn't lend itself to what Royal Mail are looking for?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'm still very keen to get to through the process but I've no idea where I'm going wrong with it.

Keep at it. Reckon I put around 20 applications in last year, managed 1 interview which resulted in a place on the waiting list. Nothing came up so went again earlier this year, got an interview and this time the job, into my second week and despite the sore heels think it''ll be good.
At my induction last week, lad said he'd talked to his interviewer who said 300+ applied for his DO, 20 odd got 100% on the test, that was whittled down to 12 for the interviews for 3 jobs. So if that's true its all about the test, get that right and a good shout of an interview.
Re. work background. I prev worked in an office for 20 years so prob similar to you, wouldnt be held against you I dont think.
Interview date listed...does that not mean you have an interview???
In any case, persevere. you will get an opportunity sooner or later.
Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not being too disheartened about it. My current job is steady away but long term I've known for a while that the Postie life is for me!
Sorry, I didn't make it clear. The interview date is listed in the job advert. So if I don't hear anything past that date, I know the answer.
It's great to hear about your experience, I'll keep plugging away. Pleased to hear it's going well early on for you. If you're managing well this early on with the walking, it'll only get easier.

Definitely keep at it
I've applied for 11 over 2 years, got an interview for the 1st (unsuccessful) and the 11th - successful interview but 'higher scoring candidates' - put on the waiting list, got a job next day
The ones inbetween were mostly unsuccessful but without explanation so I never knew what I could do differently. I was confident my online tests were fast and accurate. I have to say my first interview was pretty daunting and I'm not surprised I didn't score highly. It was my first interview in 15 years and I was underprepared.
So keep applying but also take time to learn about the interview procedure, there are plenty of threads here which give fab tips and a list of possible questions - good luck
