Where there'll surely be told that those "legally binding contracts" within employment can be easily broken, either through a change in circumstances, financial considerations or just because they feel like it...as long as sufficient notice of the change is given.

martin21Today 05:28good point, if anyone listened to corbyn and his labour union mates you would think we were all living poverty stricken. people have never had it so good, every resturant you drive by is packed to the roof every supermarket is rammed full and you can't get parked. i was watching a programe the other night and people on benefits could afford to smoke / drink / sky tv and were drinking coffee at £3 a cup. so i have not seen much austerity in the uk regardless of what corbyn keeps sayingmartin21

RMGFri 21:19I guess we have to ask ourselves who set the rules. Its those in power and have all the money. I guess the 35hour week is an offshoot from the 1970's, when the union were too strong? In my opinion it has gone the other way. Why should people work 60hour weeks, paying massive rents and mortgages, with very little quality time? I supose we can never get it right, and despite the moaning I find myself doing sometimes, at least we arent in syria being decapitated. We have it very easy, and there really is no such thing as poverty in the UK. Those living below the bread line , in the UK, are making that choice.ARSENAL17

IisleworthFri 20:01We all understand what your point is but we see that PLCs have to make changes for the business and other liabilitys so I'm afraid rmg staff and unions are going to have to adapt otherwise it won't last long as a plc my friendPostmanPorsche

You are obviously from the dark side of London?
Whereas I am from the lilywhite side.
I've just realised where 17 comes from. Your position next year!!!!
All said with humour of course.
For the record. I took your militant and scargill comments with pride.
Call it a badge of honour if you like.
The odd thing is, my middle name is Arthur.IsleworthSpy

Re: IsleworthFri 19:47@ Arsenal, callerone and POD
Can you tell me why RMG have made 3 changes to their pension proposals already?
If the first proposal was " the only sustainable way to keep it open ", how is the latest one " the only sustainable way ?"
What does that tell you?
Nobody here is stating the proposals about pay and job security. That's because nobody knows, outside of RMG.
Pension erosion is the tip of the iceberg.ARSENAL17

IisleworthFri 19:09Look mate let's be civil you work hard like a lot of posties but you simply have to change the way you see your pension and job moving forward ,I'm afraid all PLCs have to adapt and rmg know that it is not going to be easy unless people accept changecallerone

isleworthFri 19:06the world is a changing place my friend, gone will be the days when a job came with a ton of perks, there will come a time in the not to distant future where folk will be glad just to have a job to pay their bills and keep a roof over their heads. how can royal mail be expected to keep you in a possible 25 years of retirement and also pay a person a full wage to replace you plus also pay into their pension to??? the figures do not add up do they??
