Transfer to another office
Hi. I have just rejoined Royal Mail again after a two year absence due to medical retirement. I am fully fit again. I previously worked for the company for 28 years as a Postal Cadet, Postman and Acting Manager (3 years) I have joined an office on a part-time contract, I was previously full time. The problem that I have is the commute to my new office. I have a 60 mile round trip and it is costing me a fortune in weekly fuel costs. Does anyone know the criteria for a transfer to a closer office? How long do I have to serve in my current office before I can request a transfer? I am currently in the DE sector and would like to return to the WS sector. Thanks.

Minimum 12 months before you can transfer, somebody I work with was told. I'd assume it's the same for you despite your previous service. After that just check online to see if offices closer to you are recruiting then go and see your dom.

Generally only Mail centres have on site parking, DOs tend to be full of vans for work rather than Private Cars.

It's six months before you can transfer, you can view vacancies via the success factors thingy on the royal mail website and it says that there.
