I can take it. Thats what a union is all about - being able to voice your opinion
Nothing to take lovejoy,i personally dont agree with the whole of your post, just bits and bobs, and i respect your view 110%.

As for abuse, that s**t in general HAS TO STOP,regardless who posts it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

i wont be voting for the agreement, even though it will be voted in,seems to me delivery staff have been well shafted, and the cheek of royal mail to pay our supposed lump sum of £175 out of the savings we have made speaks volumes, Massive no vote i hope.

Vote no...Stay strong

my office is at melting point..a massive back log which is getting bigger every day, a manager trying to bully people into taking out over the top deliveries...

MADMAXMS wrote:LOVEJOY AS A FELLOW POSTIE WHAT WILL YOU BE VOTING YES OR NO?
I will vote Yes and for the following reasons

Any national agreement will contain parts/sections we are unhappy with but this is about the bigger picture. People say that the original document hasn't changed - thats rubbish.

How many mentions were there of the union in Royal Mails final proposals = 0

Now we are on every page! It is laughable that reps/members who took action to defend the union now complain that it has too much influence locally! People say these issues should be dealt with nationally. This is inpracticle and impossible. Reps are elected at every level to lead and i believe good reps will manage this document with no problems.

On the Pay people are saying its the same offer but its not. 2,5% = abou £8 and 5.4% = £17+

Ok so it is not backdated but look at the added value it will give you going forward!

Change is coming whether we like it or not. Right now we have the chance (and i believe the agreement) to influence it.

And lastly and perhaps more importantly what is the alternative. It is easy for reps to say NO, NO, NO but these are the same reps who were struggling to maintain support in some areas!!

if anyone is voting no because they have a plan , strategy and ideas that can take us further forward then lets hear it. If you are saying no because you think change will go away then its wake up time - JUST A PERSONAL VIEW

I'm voting yes but for a different reason. This campaign has been a f**k up from the start and I really dont see theres anything more to be won now that Ward and Hayes have publicly signed up to the agreement. Be realistic - its damage limitation time

Well said. I'm not being dictated to by a couple of sharks who haven't done a delivery in years and who don't have to put up with bullying managers on a daily basis. Professional socialists eh? Who needs them?

There are some people putting about the message that the 5,4% from October is the same as 2.5% from April. This is simply not true. In pure cash terms 2.5% = £8.12 rise for OPGs, 5.4% = £17.54.
That is absolutely not true, the £8.12 is correct and the £17.54 will be correct next year but for only 6 months - October to April - it averages out at £8.77 (2.66% not 2.5%).
This is without the fact that the 5.4% will give added value going forward on every pay deal we get in the future.
This however, is very true. With the 5.4% rise you wll be on nearly £500 more than with the 2.5% Even without the 1.5% next year you would still earn £50 more per year more than with a second 2.5% rise.

I know it is only for the 6 months but the key point is that it is in your pay forever.

We may miss out for 6 months that have gone but we will gain financially going forward. That is absolutely true

Mail Centres Drivers Delivery Inner London ,
Who does it actually please anybody or is it me that just feels targeted on delivery as the lowest paid crapest conditions etc?

Ah Turpin of Torquay!!

You work in an area where you can perfectly judge what is going on nationally. your unit is rock solid but what of those around you - most slowly weakening, with some completely gone!

As I have previously posted if this agreement isn't the way to deal with change then lets hear what is! When should we go out? what will this achieve? what if we take action at christmas and RM don't move?

I' sure you have a very good rep who will deal easily with the proposed changes!

NO the union is about standing together to protect and improve our terms and conditions .

This deal is a charter for the destruction of the CWU postal section .
Local agreement ,local trials ,area rep discussion, total fragmentation and ultimately capitulation.
Deja vu ,Way FORward , is your status raised? do you get the national average wage?

Feel free to quote me in just 18months and say i told you it was a good deal. Bet my left leg you dont

Tell me exactly how this deal improves or even maintains our present position. But leave out the pay offer crap cos be it 2.5 2.66 5.4 even at a probably unobtainable 6.9% over 18 months ,or more correctly 24 months it is still a pay cut in real terms unless we get uninflation of 2.3% next year
