Came as a shock to most in the business. You can only speckilate lol. Most thought McCauley would be heading back North too but he seems to be Cameron's man. Lots of blood on the dance floor soon with the DSM cull, saw ours today...looked like Teresa May so he did.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Seems to me that the name Cameron automatically conjures up thoughts of someone who has no substance, fcks things up and then jumps ship himself, leaving the job to a woman who spouts great things for the workers and then stabs them in the back.

So glad these guys at the top who we've never heard of or seen are seen in such legendary splendour, sadly no body was available today to say a few words to our old school phg who left after 30 years in this company, but you really wouldn't expect anything less ,watch us slide down the league table now as we fail our audits etc and they realise just how good he was at running our unit,I guess they simply don't recognise long service and commitment to the job anymore, hold your heads in shame!!

I know of him as well, big on delivery methods, and world class mail, that alone should have been enough for him to leave in disgrace. I suspect that he was pushed, because usually these people have to give a lot more notice. It's getting messy at the top. Mail down, managers up!POSTMAN wrote:I knew Burgess, thought he would be here for ever, big company man.

Jumped or pushed?? Maybe he had enough and heard about the walk-outs up and down the country and thought that now is the best time to leave, before the sh*t really does hit the fan with Royal Mail's new stratagem on the 'race to the bottom'.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Exactly,I left recently after 19 years service but I never even got a thankyou. After working in my previous job [which I left for RM] after 14 years service I got a lovely thankyou letter for all my hard work and commitment.Like you say RM should hang their heads in shame.robbertwhitton wrote:So glad these guys at the top who we've never heard of or seen are seen in such legendary splendour, sadly no body was available today to say a few words to our old school phg who left after 30 years in this company, but you really wouldn't expect anything less ,watch us slide down the league table now as we fail our audits etc and they realise just how good he was at running our unit,I guess they simply don't recognise long service and commitment to the job anymore, hold your heads in shame!!

There are very few companies left in the UK that honour their workforce. Thatchers government removed the idea of respect for those who work at the coal face, Blairs government did nothing to turn the tide of capitalism and all that entails. D Cameron carried on with the selling off of national assetts and the idea that public ownership is a crime. T May has carried on the lie that Tories are the only party that create and spread the wealth. This last week has found her and her party out. We all know that austerity has not worked because the national debt has increased by the best part of a Trillion Pounds. The Tories continue to announce the crap that reducing corporation tax brings in more tax. If that is the case then they should be held to account for not ensuring that HM Tax Revenue Office is not collecting all of the tax when it is charged at the higher rates. The labour party may be trying to do to much and appeasing everybody, but they seem the only hope that the masses have for any future prospects of a fair and caring alternative to what has been yet another scandalous conservative term in office.

After 36 years your boss should hang his head in shame! What a way to treat his long serving staff!robbertwhitton wrote:Well said that man,I had.... after 36 years maybe this isn't the job for you anymore??!! from my boss,priceless.ranger1 wrote:I always say that those who are in high positions in a company...and see money more important than its work force..... well being and health and safety are only human beings like all 7.3 billion souls on this planet... they are nothing special...

Well said, its absolutely disgusting how RM treat their posties. They should hang their heads in shame!!!ranger1 wrote:as a species on this planet, i was born into general society... i cannot influence the so called pathetic elite.... but as a human being i can express my thoughts on why those in a position to harm those below themselves in the interest of money and wealth as just pure evil... royal mail has become a nightmare... all the propaganda and lies being relayed to its delivery staff is false... be it via the courier or leaflets being given out by your manager.... i try to understand why but find it false... it only seems that money is all that matters in royal mail.... its people have no meaning at all...
i speak from the heart, its affecting me greatly.. and only see me as a human being worth nothing to this company... i been in royal mail along time.. but i have realized my existence is worth absolutely nothing to them....
as 1 senior manager once said to me.... money is king....
i do wish that maybe one day someone with common sense and understanding can make it a great company to work for.. and see its people as a asset to the company and not a piece of dog crap like they are treating them now..
