Wildcat Strike Hits Royal Mail In Scarborough

Postal workers in Scarborough walked out this morning in a dispute with management.

The Scarborough News understands that the workers took industrial action at 9am.

The strike was unplanned but they were back at work by noon.

The Royal Mail and the Communications Workers Union have been contacted for comment.

Postal deliveries in the Scarborough area were disrupted earlier today, following a wildcat strike by Royal Mail workers.
Royal Mail spokesperson, Julie Pirone, said:

"Royal Mail is disappointed that unballoted industrial action took place for a short time this morning at Scarborough Delivery Office. We apologise to customers in the YO12, YO13 and YO14 postcode areas for any disruption to their mail services. Staff went back to work around midday and we are doing all we can to minimise this disruption.

Royal Mail is fully committed to the process of trying to resolve concerns of postal workers based in Plymouth by following the national jointly agreed framework with the Communication Workers Union (CWU)."
