i tried that with a handful of people today, and although they think the deal is shite, they also think that its the best offer we will get...so its not looking all that promising in our office..
I understand exactly what you mean! Our rep has been away for a few weeks and returned today to expect a barrage of questions and moans - he got no response at all. When the IA was on, out of about 160 members, there was no more than 15 who manned the picket throughout. When asked to attend the picket they always seemed to have an excuse, not legitimate of course, but what can you do? It most cases the strikebreakers outnumbered the picket line and there was only 5 breakers out of the 160. If we can accuse the leadership of LMF; in some cases at least, we can accuse the membership of total apathy.

My branch will recomend a NO vote on the deal, to the members of the branch and ask that the negotiators return to the table and firm up the agreement so we know exactly what conditions we will be working under. The problem is the silent majority will vote this in, no matter what. I believe that the only thing that could would unite the vast majority is the pension issue, but due to the uncoupling of this issue from the deal we have been hamstrung!
The forward thinking of our leaders is mindblowing, to stop the rolling AI when the deal was still in the air for they must have known that this would be unexceptable to us, the activists, in its present form. A 60 day consultation for our pension and then the implimentation of the same bloody plan! sold out by those who should now better and wonder if they have a seperate pension plan?
Will the last one out please switch off the lights.
p.s. For certain people principles are hard to stand by when the pound sign hangs in front of you, you seem to forget the reason you fight the good fight.

Stand firm and stand strong

First of all why have we not already voted for this so called 'great deal'?
[Do they not want us out on strike over Xmas?],
When are people going to realise that this deal is totally c..p!
We are getting nothing out of this, the Union will be a puppet for RM and will become a 'waste of space',
In my office I cannot believe people still do not know the true facts of the 'agreement' and are just concerned about getting a wage rise,
When i ask them if they actually know what is in the document and explain how it will affect us all today and in the future; they are shocked.
It is up to the Reps to inform everyone with the latest information as well as all of us who read this chatline,
otherwise all our stike action will be wasted,

FOR OUR SAKE, DO NOT LET THESHEEP IN YOUR OFFICE VOTE,YES,

VOTE NO!

:arrrghhh :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm
