So slow!
Hi everyone, I started in Monday with an induction. Followed someone yesterday and then went on my own round today. Anyhow, I was really slow, and I mean really slow lol. We were 2nd us over and last into the office everyone else had left. Does anyone have any tips / helpful pointers I can take on board to help me speed up? Any help appreciated thanks

So slow!
Don't pressure yourself to speed up. You need to allow a few months before you can reach any speed compared to those who've been doing the job for years. It is far more important that you concentrate on doing things properly than how quickly you can get things done. Going out by yourself on your second day isn't how things should be done by the office, the latest batch of newbies at our place are getting a week working alongside the regular - and that's on a van share (so 3 in the van) not on a solo duty.

So slow!
Welcome to RM. I only started last week so I'm new too. I really wouldn't worry about how slow you are. Your new to it all & to be put out on your own already is so unfair. Do you feel confident on your own? If they put me out on my second day, I would've spoken up & told them I'm not going on my own yet. I had my trainer with me for 5 days & then was put out on my own on Monday. It went well but obviously didn't finish as fast as last week as I'm new & there's no way we can be expected to finish the same as the regular posties that have been there for years. My office have been really good & today I told my manager that there's no way I'll be able to finish it all by my end time & he was fine with that & completely understood.
Don't stress yourself out. Do what you can do & then cut off. I've read so many posts on this forum & ive really picked up that you need to stand your ground now from the start or they'll take the piss with you. And to me it seems like they are doing that already by putting you out there on your own already. DONT PUT UP WITH IT & BE HEARD.

Thanks for the replies! I will start questioning things more from today and try not to worry about my slowness. It doesn't seem like we have any choice about being out alone so I'm just going to have to do the best I can. I'm still not really confident with what letters to scan on the pda but that will come with time. Just hoping they will show some patience!
