Scottish Labour need shut of Kezia Dugdale, who has been hostile to Corbyn/socialism. Massive scope for Labour gains in Scotland.
"At the start of the campaign, they (Labour HQ) identified two seemingly unscalable problems, in addition to poor poll showings. One was the loss of the bloc of Labour MPs from Scotland, down from 41 in 2010 to one in 2015, and no sign that having a leftwinger as leader was winning Scottish voters back. One of the major regrets now among the campaign team is that, having unexpectedly secured seven MPs, they did not put more resources into Scotland. "
The nats. have played it that a vote for Labour is a vote for Kezia - not a vote for Corbyn/socialism.

Seems to be an awful lot of triumphalism going on, but God knows why.
Corbyn isn't in Number Ten and isn't likely to engineer a deal where he will be.
May's paying the price for a very poor campaign and in the ensuing political uncertainty no-one's going to benefit either long or short-term, plus we now have the tribalism of NI politics entering the main stream too.
Not much to be happy about unless the events of last seven weeks are just ultimately meaningless scarf-waving, and it appears that to some on here that's about as profound as it gets.

Thank god this general election is over.
Now lets get on with Bl**dy Brexit, even if its possibly going to be a much softer Brexit than previously hoped.

I meant 'as you were' in relation to the legislature, i.e. you have Tory govt. with, via the DUP, an effective majority the same as before.
DUP are reputed to want hard Brexit. I think it's a stupid term same as 'African American'. Any Brexit is hard. Think about it, you have a hard-core communistic organization that wants uniformity across many different sovereign states and seek power wherever it comes from, a Central Bank, a Central Parliament etc. and want wealth shared from the richer nations to poor to ensure loyalty across all regions. A sort of ragtag version of capitalist but Communist China. Unlike the Russians against Czechoslovakia and Hungary they have no military option against the UK to prevent leaving, but their intent is the same before you think that's a bizarre comparison. You will only ever leave this club under OUR terms and when WE say so. A bit like the Mafia, you're in for life and never willingly allowed to leave without severe punishment.
So a bit like in Army, you can leave early by 'buying yourself out'. So yes, I'm relieved as hell C*rbyn never got near this process - then again he's avoided the poison chalice that is the 'negotiations'. Every US state has right to secede from the Union, I wonder how they would be treated if they ever did?

I don't recall the UFF or UVF ever blowing up innocent people on the UK mainland?aiden01 wrote:after the recent terrorist attacks in London and Manchester how can may now rely on the DUP who are backed by every illegal loyalist organisation shameful.
This BS is over now, peace has prevailed in the province, and McGuinness and Adams who were both identified by numerous people as being PIRA commanders and identified as being present for numerous atrocities including execution of touts became respectable MP's. Prisons were emptied and they became part of the democratic process and eschewed terrorism. That's in the past, debate instead of the Armalite and Semtex. And in my view, thank the Lord.

Agree, Labour MP s now need to back Corbyn. Allowing him to put a decent team in place. This alliance with DUP is only going to cause major friction. And when she messes up the Brexit deal, which she will. The pressure to resign will be enormous. New PM within six months and another election next year most likely.aiden01 wrote:after the recent terrorist attacks in London and Manchester how can may now rely on the DUP who are backed by every illegal loyalist organisation shameful.

You are one bright person bustedflush! :)bustedflush wrote:Things are too divided and clearly defined now for Corbyn to ever win. He carefully avoided 'awkward' points on Brexit and immigration and defence and concentrated on appealing to the young and young parents, a decent strategy despite the insane promises he made that would wreck the economy and then result in being booted out for another austerity mad Tory administration, but with an even worse deficit. May was hopeless, simple as that. Despite the media focussing on the May negatives and the BBC barely able to conceal their Marxist delight when the exit poll appeared, she significantly raised the Tory vote like Corbyn did Labour.
The whole affair came down the exactly WHERE the votes were placed. The safe Labour seats experienced reduced majorities as the Tories scooped up the non-Labour votes. The SNP suffered and in the end the net result was Labour did better in the Tory-held marginals where Labour were in second place last time. So the votes are now polarized far more and in such a way that despite Corbyn's optimum performance, there aren't enough seats with the demographic that he could win to add to this maximised performance he put in. In other words there are far too many seats that Labour can't win with a far-left loon as their leader that he would never increase the 260 to 330 for a majority Labour government. The fist-pumping leftist TV media will finally face up to this fact (actually whatshisface the old Blair PR bloke, sorry can't recall his name right now) was the only one I saw mention this.
So as well as the Tories having to do some serious introspection, so will Labour. There is about 50% of his party who are against him and don't believe they will win with him as leader as last night proved. And next time the Tories won't get it so wrong, especially if they replace her with a big-hitter like Bumbling Boris. I don't think there will be another election though as Brexit is more urgent. You may get one after the Brexit deal has been finalized though. So despite the her suicidal campaign, you have her party taking the biggest number of votes in a generation, simply because so many voters still saw her as the lesser of two evils and kept Corbyn out.
So it's basically 'as you were' - a Tory government with a small majority having replaced a few MP's with DUP ones. Proved very little did this election, other than UKIP are finished (which we all knew when 'leave' was chosen), Corbyn is too far left to win outright and May was abysmal. Move along....
I didn't think it was actually possible to make a vaguely coherent story from the bollocks printed in The Sun but you appear to have managed it. Definitely 10 points for trying!

BTW - where's Fishtank ?
The SNP are down the pan it would seem. 1) scottish independance is now off the agenda for the next 20 years, and 2) the utopian promise/dream of a socialist independant Scotland is down the pan also.
Scotland has just put the Tories in power with 13 scottish seats !! I'll grant you it was a protest vote in favour of the union, but still.
The SNP might now well go the way of UKIP, because they are, when all is said and done, a one trick pony. The SNP gained ground when the Labour Party were in the wilderness - which they aren't anymore.
And with another GE not too far in the future highly likely I reckon for left leaning citizens of Scotland (ie. the majority) the only real choice now is between the Tories and the Labour Party/socialism.
