No delivery of election material on Thursday

POSTMAN wrote:As per this previous post, Royal Mail are concerned that there could be heavy deliveries in the final run-up to the election
It is this lack of advance planning time and the dynamics of this particular election which is bound to create pressure points during the countdown to election day. We are concerned that there could be heavy deliveries in the final run-up to the election.

Please plan for peak days over these next few weeks. Anticipate high volumes of candidates’ mail. It is vital to ensure we do our best to manage candidates’ mail and deliver it on time and to the required specification.
Which brings us nicely to this...

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2017/06/one-last-push" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

With just three days to go until the country goes to the polls, we need one last push to do the best job we can in delivering election mail, for our customers and our reputation.

Please ensure every piece of mail is delivered by Wednesday 7 June. Election materials should not be delivered on polling day, Thursday 8 June.

Please know the target date for delivery of candidates’ mail consignment and ensure the campaign mailings are delivered by that date. Deliver what candidates’ mail you can as soon as it comes in. There will always be more the next day, so it’s good practice to clear as much as possible, as soon as possible.

Make sure your delivery performance is updated daily for each consignment on Candidates Mail Tracker (CMT).

Best endeavours

Some candidates’ mailing may have been accepted on a best endeavours basis.

Please make every effort to deliver these mailings and give priority to items that are still within their target date.

Remember – it’s really important that we don’t nest any election material. Please ensure leaflets are placed one on top of the other for delivery.

Thank you for doing a great job throughout this election period – we’re almost there!
Anf the soluton from Management today was......

Leave the IPS, Leave your coded trays. Focus on the election materal , Tracked items and SD's.

Ftrst class cock up.. Roll on tomorrow with two days mail to deliver.

What rate per item are you on to earn £200 for an extra 5 hrs?

I've due about £96 but seeing as a some of the signing sheets haven't appeared for some of the contracts who knows what I'll end up with.

6.6p/item.
It has actually been a very quiet election.
Nothing from the Green party or UKIP.
1x Lib Dem leaflet, 2 x Labour and 2 x Conservative - all addressed. (though May also did a D2D)
The polling cards are £80 of that £200.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Royal Mail deluded as per...

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2017/0 ... l-delivery" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Steve Cameron has thanked colleagues across the business for delivering an excellent 2017 election mailing campaign.

While the nation has been busy at the polls, our postmen and women across the UK have been busy delivering 30m poll cards, 8.7m postal votes and 131.5m items of candidates’ mail over the last six weeks.

‘I wanted to add my thanks to everyone who has been involved in the 2017 election mailing campaign,’ said Steve, our UK operations director.

‘We had just six weeks to get this right and some challenges along the way. We’ve all pulled together to do a great job.

‘You should feel rightly proud of what you’ve accomplished.’

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yet people have not been paid for last weeks election leaflets so has the policy of the future been implemented with post haste looks like Steve Cameron will have a good bonus this month. Probably pay for David's slap up lunch so he won't just be eating fish and chips at the seaside!

There were some posties who said from the beginning of the election mailings arriving into the office that they were not delivering any. DOM told them that is fine, but it would be down to them to find someone else to do them. One guy took on two walks worth over the campaign plus ones for his own walk.

We just left what we didn't have time to deliver, including loads of addressed leaflets. Our office had thousands and thousands left.

It's a myth that you can't legally deliver election material on or after polling day however I doubt the candidates would be too happy if they "accidentally" found out from someone unconnected to royal mail obviously and definitely not one of us.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
