Hey guys , don't give cfps too much of a hard time , he's not a bad guy really. Would be good to see things from a manager's point of view sometimes.

Manager gets 3k bonus, what happened to "we're all on the same team"?
double standards again! (There should be no bonus scheme for anyone, Just descent pay levels.)
He's right in one respect the CWU are crap, and we should be asking them WHY are our bonus schemes are different from the CMA. afterall is said and done the work is done by posties not smart arses sat on swivel chairs!!

Here's an idea for Loopy leighton, some time ago the PHG grade was dumped, I was an acting phg at the time so I remeber it well - still did the work but got paid less. why not down grade all the managers to that grade and slice their pay and bonuses ( we had one manager missing for a whole day and no one noticed)- money saved could be poured into the pension pot. We have a guy on the old phg grade (Reserved rights) who does 10 times the work our line managers do and when he goes on leave the whole office prays for him to come back and sort out our d2d and pay!!

The trouble with royalmail is all the best staff are now looking at going if they cannot retain decent staff soon then it collapse in it's self.Time for time served promotion gradeing system rewarding expirance and passing on skill's to newer enterant's.

I completely agree with this point. I've not been in the job that long but I'm not afraid of hard work or getting my hands dirty. I've found out the hard way that the more you do , the more they (managers) expect you to do. All fine and well if it was a level playing field BUT it's not. Too many shirkers , too many of the "I can't do that" brigade , and too many skivers who think they get paid to stand around talking to their mates all night. I have been seriously considering looking for another job as I am sick to death of carrying these selfish lazy arseholes ! Managers just tend to walk past these people ignoring the fact that they're not doing their job , but if anyone who IS a worker stops briefly, the managers are too quick to jump on their backs ! That's wrong ! (cfps :wave repeat this at the managers meeting too ! :angel ). I'm not a lazy person by nature and the way things are at work , I won't be staying around for very much longer. And finally , this is not just since the I/A. It has been going on for a lot longer.

Scottishlass: all over the land you'll find Royal Mail workers "not afraid of hard work or getting my hands dirty. "

Of course there's the "favourites" brigade, but it's managers allowing their shirking to go unpunished, mainly to suit their own cause.

The problem we have is a crisis of management, where initiative and practicality on the shop floor mean nothing. Only obedience to (mostly rubbish) orders from above are to be implemented without question. Obey the latest propoganda video on the plasma screen. Good management that gets the relatively simple job of getting a letter from A to B done isn't allowed. Management has an agenda to bleed this company dry in it's own self interest, and customers & employees can't get in the way of this. Cynical? Yes. 1984? Yes. True? Look around you at work.

Can't blame you for wanting to get out.

Just turn the screens off.

Just turn the Propoganda Machine (er... Plasma Screens) off. It's amazing how long it takes them to work out how to switch them on again. :chuckle  :whistle It will at least delay the Propoganda. :dance

Unfortunately you will always get singled out if you work hard in RM. It's been the same for as long as I've worked for them. The problem is, that those who can't be bothered, always find some excuse to hide behind. That leads to conduct code issues, etc.. It's a lot easier to have a go at people like us, as we actually care about getting the job done, and have a work ethic. :mad

It's wrong, upsetting, and a cop out. But it's been that way for years!

And in answer to CFPS's question: Yes, of course we work to pay the bills. But there are a lot of us WHO ACTUALLY CARE about the USO, and getting the Mail through. I joined Royal Mail to help to provide one of the last Public Services. :hmmmm

I accept the fact that you, and even some of my Collegues only care about the money. BUT I CARE ABOUT THE SERVICE TOO!!!!!

This is bourne out by my Employment History. I have always worked in the Service Industry, in one capacity or another.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and although I don't agree with your attitude to the job. I accept that you actually believe what you say. But before criticising people for telling you that they care about the Service, I reccomend that you try to find out what they did before comming to RM. You will be surprised with what you find!

magic word

Post by postiemik »

We also have the managers favourites brigade, mostly youngsters who run round on delivery and the "volanteers" who crossed the picket, the trouble is they don't do anything in the office, 2 hours sorting turn into 2.5 when they're busy gabbing! A few days ago a mate asked me if I'd heard anything on the
I/A front unlucky for me the line manager waddled past and asked me to face the frame and get sorting - i told him NO, not until he got the favourites to do the same! Today i asked the boss to cover the end of my walk as I was working to my time and going home, he asked me to complete regardless and i used that magic word again - NO. It was so nice to go home on time!

Had WTLL propaganda session today on "The Deal" from RM's perspective. It has greatly increased the "No" vote at our office, now those unsure of the details know what's on offer.

had our wtl session yesterday. every single question asked was returned with a don't know. this deal is far too vague. and we will never get any answers to queries on d2d, election payments , flexibility, monthly pay etc until after it's been voted on. so from me it's a big fat NO.
watch out. there may be a dom about
