Todays Briefing

Post by hotshot »

Just spoken to my Area Rep on the phone he says the National Briefing did not go
well for the PEC stick from all corners of the Country it would seem not many of our Reps
think its a good deal, Dave Ward did his best to sell it,but it looks like lots of reps
will be putting foreward a No as a recommendation to there branches.
Sorry Dave you cannot Polish a Turd and this agreement is a Turd.

Does anyone know the procedure required for removing sitting union officials? There must be some emergency method other than referring it to the NDC. If we fail to install representatives willing to prosecute our cause very soon we will have lost our union. Many better informed members are already quiting; as soon as the practical effects of this sell out deal begin to bite others will leave in droves.
Don't think we have time to waste. :evil/mad

It makes me sad to say it, but i have to agree with you!
Unless we manage to retrieve the situation through local reps advocating and getting a 'no' vote.

Then we might be able to recover.

No Vote

Post by semacsorter »

If we get a no vote and i hope we do then surely we have to pick new people to take it forward because the present incumbrents have proved unable to and surely dick and dorf wont take notice of them having given up once !!

I would not say the union has broken itself, the words traitors and betrayal spring to mind. We are the union ,we fund our union ,work for our union ,we elect people to do the job of representing our interests. If people are unwilling ,unable or incapable of that we must sack them. If we can not carry out our jobs in a satisfactory manner we get sacked ,there are no exceptions.

As far as I'm concerned, this ballot will be a vote on the deal and a vote of confidence or no confidence in the leadership of the CWU. I'll be voting no to the deal and no to the leadership of the CWU. Mind you, if they have any integrity, they would stand down anyway.

I think this deal clearly indicates how much integrity our union managers possess, and their hush hush confidentiality ,we will let you know when it's good for you mentality demonstrates exactly their opinion of the membership.

Integrity, what's that? I doubt they can spell it, judging by the time it took them to pore over the "amended" agreement, never mind have any understanding of the word!!! Can we add loyalty to that, too?

I believe that we must get a no vote but a campaign will be necessary.

A meeting is taking place, to organise for a no vote, on Saturday 27 October ,2.30pm, Vernon Square campus of SOAS, Penton Rise, London, WC1X, Just off King's Cross Road.

Dave Warren , PEC member, will be speaking AGAINST the deal.

If you really are opposed to this deal please try to make it.

Also speak to your reps as Branch officials will be meeting soon to make Branch recommendations!
