jetblack wrote: Now I know that that isn't quite as straightforward to get your head around as the idea that this is good vs evil - but I reckon its better to try to see things in the cold light of day, rather than through the veil of misinformation that is handed down to us by those that think they are more capable at making our decisions for us than we are.
"An issue of the Islamic State newsletter al Naba, published weeks after the Paris attacks, boasted in one section that “the Paris raid has caused the creation of a state of instability in European countries which will have long-term effects.” It listed these as “the weakening of European cohesion, including demands to repeal the Schengen Agreement … which permits free traveling in Europe without checkpoints”; “security measures [that] will cost them tens of millions of dollars”; and “mutual accusations between France and Belgium” over security failings.

The same newsletter section also stated that a “general state of unease” created by terrorism would lead to decreases in tourism and new restrictions on travel, costing already cash-strapped EU countries “tens of billions of dollars” in revenue.

Its all about causing havoc as much as they can in their "western front" part of their campaign whilst they try and put a stronghold on their base territory.
Its so simple you want to make it complicated looking back at origins, we have a group shouting from the rooftops its goals, celebrating its success, and you just want to say "nah, they dont want to do it for this reason it must be something else" Even point 6 in your post above points this out.

How does everyone else on here feel about labours promise of a £10 per hour minimum wage within the the next three years? That was the only manifesto promise that worried me, obviously Royal Mail staff are on a higher than minimum wage rate which is the only reason my husband stays in the job. Can't see Royal Mail increasing pay rates at a similar rate so where does that leave the average postie? Better off working at a supermarket from the way we see it at the moment, not sure if that's a good or bad thing :hmmmm
If Labour are elected and introduce the £10 Living Wage, then Royal Mail and other employers who have got away with paying as little as they can will have to increase wages if they want to recruit and retain competent staff.

What it will do is make it even harder for RM to get and keep part-time staff. Which lets be honest they have an awful record as it is. And with the new proposals for new staff, looks like they haven't learned a bloody thing.
If Labour make it easier to get another well paid job where you aren't bullied and harassed every single day, can't be a bad thing.
Would imagine most new/ish staff would jump ship first chance they get. Pension sucks, benefits suck, work life balance sucks. Holidays suck. Management sucks, promotion full-time prospects sucks. Wage is only thing keeping most here as it is.

Instead of going on holiday in your car, parking up at the hotel and walking your bags in, you can lug them out of the station, stand by them in the slashing rain in the taxi/bus queue and then lug them out again at the hotel. Then when there you can use taxis and buses to get to nearby attractions! You won't need to drive to local superstore for a big shop, get the train and lug it all back on that.

Nevermind, he'll be taxing the higher-earners to pay for it. Only simpleton Abbott must've done his figures as the total raised by this rise wouldn't cover 5% of the cost. And guess WHO will benefit - yes! the higher rate taxpayers and big earners that commute and are the main users of the railways (aside from freight). So we tax the higher earners more to provide the higher earners with cheaper season tickets. What a bloody genius he is - to you and me it means absolutely naff-all.

Anyway good luck with 5 years of free pre-school nurseries, free student fees, nationalized railways etc. If you think austerity is bad now, wait until he gets booted in 5 years (or earlier with the likely economic turmoil) and it somehow has to be paid back by our kids under the inevitable follow-on Tory administration.
Oh thanks lets turn a fun thread into a boring Political one, not like there are threads designed for that. Oh wait there is.

Ps your statement is badly researched and poorly thought out. I'll give you a clue, its all costed (unlike the Conservatives manifesto) and its not all coming from taxes for those earning over £80,000.

Thought about why ruin a funny thread - it won't make much sense but its better to merge it with an existing thread that is more appropriate.

With recent terrorists events in Manchester and London, twice in London as it happens. I suppose the next question is now, which party will provide the best security for the UK.

Supporting talks and criticizing governments methods at the time like lots of others is not exactly supporting IRA, unless you've proof otherwise. And attack ISIS how exactly. Most of these terrorists are British born.
Question should be why do thousands of mostly working class young male British Muslims feel the need to support this ideology. Wish there was easy answer.
But have a feeling another five years of Tory austerity, police cuts and state sponsored internet censorship won't help either.

Actually, if rewards like tax breaks are not present for businesses then they will not invest in people. A lot of small businesses will struggle due to paying more tax and/or higher staff wages on ten pounds an hour and overall unemployment will go up. This will have quite a significant impact on our economy and a socialist government that also promises to pump billions of pounds into an NHS with no cap on their salaries, scrapping tuition fees for students (didn't TB of the Labour Party get rid of mandatory grants for Uni students because they actually said it was unaffordable??) only serves to make our overall economy worst off. Jeremy Corbyn has made many fantastic pledges primarily designed to win votes, but they won't implement all of them because it would lead to a massive economic recession.

Taxing the rich won't bring about a more equal society because the rich will simply invest elsewhere.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Yeah - you're right. I reckon they should tax the poor and give it to the rich, that the rich might employ us in greater numbers and that the wealth they create from our labour might one day trickle back down to us. For it to be taxed again. And we will all live happily ever after.

Vote Conservative - it makes a lot of sense.

Taxing the rich directly won't work it never does. All that will happen is they award themselves bigger pay rises to compensate and then claim there is no more money for rises in the pot for the workers at the bottom or better still a lot less jobs. Working for RM over the years you must have seen this for yourself? Moya getting a big fat pay rise then claiming our phantom shares were worthless!

You are right though even if it was sarcasm "Vote Conservative - it makes a lot of sense." :thumbup

The one last night on "Murgnahan" was just as bad.

Talking about the Harris Report on policing London, said she's read it and lying through her inept teeth as the interviewer gently pointed out when he questioned her.
I mean, a Shadow Home Secretary shouldn't be at all concerned about policing in London just now, should they?

How much of a desperate communist/Marxist/feckin fantasist would some-one have to be to vote for a party with this thing in the cabinet?

Another Diane About car crash interview

This woman is truely incompetent, it worries me if she does become a Government Home Secretary, she was use this as an opportunity to impose her agenda.

She probably only got the job cos she used to shag Corbyn in the past and she probably used that as a leverage to get the job.

I have voted for Brexit, now I must admit I've wavered between Conservatives, Labour and UKIP, recent events however since brought things into focus. Terrorism and Brexit, watching Question Time and seeing Corbyn's Nuclear defence stance as well as his record voting AGAINST Terror legislations in the past and opposing "shoot to kill". This is not the man for PM in a terror attack situation. You can't negotiate with Jihadists.

This election has gone from being a Brexit election to a Security election.

My vote is now firmly Conservatives. They have their faults as much as Labour has, that said, Conservatives are the most competent of the lot.

Regarding policing.... she wants to bring in 10000 extra police officers over a 4 year period...... at a cost of 300 grand....pay 30 quid per police officer... then she changed her mind to £80 million..

8k per police officer...

Then she changed her mind again 250 thousand officers... changed her mind again 2250 police officers.... fooking hell... she is fooking first class retarded moron...

It would cost £300 million per year for 10000 officers at 30 k per officer a year... £576 per week gross pay

this after they have been trained up.. i think its about 18 to 19 grand starting pay... and takes 2 years to train an officer up... not 100 % sure on this fact ??

If thats the best labour can do.. this country is fooked... what a thick retarded woman..

Ah, champagne 'socialist' Abbott, who wouldn't send her kids to the Ghetto school in Stoke Newington but instead got us to help pay for their private schools. £10,000 on that awful portrait of herself. Who uttered her respect for the terrorists in the IRA and now says she's 'changed' since then , just like her hairstyle. Abbott represents the worst type of parasite and backstabber you could ever with to elect. Her, Corbyn and Sturgeon would be a political vision of hell. Sturgeon preaching 'unity' yesterday and wants to break up the UK. Laughing still. Says 'Scotland voted remain'. NO! They didn't you stupid woman, pathetic opportunist - Scotland never had a vote for Brexit but the UK did which you voted to be part of not 2 years before. God help us if we get a hung Parliament or Lab/SNP alliance. Really, God hep us all.
