So here's my situation, I've had all the interviews for RM job and I'm currently on the waiting list and the job I originally applied for is back up on the RM site, so I use the link in the email I got and all I get is 'You already applied for this position' on the My Candidate Profile page. I have already emailed the myapplication email address and got a reply back telling me to use the link in the email, so I replied back explaining the above and I've not had anything back from them or any change to my Candidate Profile page.

So is this normal or should I email the myapplication email address again?.

If I have to email them again what should I write so I don't come off as too pushy.

Or patience is a virtue and I should just wait and see.

Drive down to the office and ask to speak to the dom!
Kills 2 birds with one stone, he will help sort it, and you get to see if he is someone you would like to work for.

Don't sit about you may well be swept under the carpet.

So good news!, emailing them was the right thing to do after all as I'm going through all the checks for future employment.

get fit :Very Happy

Seriously - try and go out for a few walks 9 - 12 miles should do it. That will get you in the ballpark for how far you will be walking.

Beyond that the usual, lots of fluids and snacks to keep your energy up. Oh and no jeans, too hot in the sun, and absorbs too much when it rains.

Hi there, I am newish myself but I will give you some tips.

- Get fit, you will be doing lots and lots of walking and maybe with no break (believe it or not).
- Take lots and lots of water and some energy foods like bananas that you can eat quickly.
- Don't arrive earlier than your start time, or they will expect it every day and will get you working for free.
- IMPORTANT - CLAIM YOUR OVERTIME from day 1. I found out about how to do this in week 3!!! The managers didn't tell me, it was a co-worker. The overtime sheets are in the manager's office. If you have a 20 hour contract and are doing five days a week, that is 4 hours a day. If you go over that, please claim it (it is day by day so even if you do less than 20 hrs in the week, you still can claim overtime if you did 5 hours on a 4 hour day).
- ALSO IMPORTANT - keep a record of overtime hours as they may accidentally underpay you. I haven't had this problem thankfully, but some have! Keep all payslips too.
- Also if you don't want to do overtime say no, but then again I am always expected to do overtime so I'm a hypocrite here.
- Find out who your union rep is and join the union.
- Look out for dogs loose in a garden. Do not deliver post if there are loose dogs. Instead return the post and endorse it. Endorse it means, write on the envelope as to why you did not deliver it.
- Always look out for signed for letters, they can be easy to miss. Manager's do not tolerate posting signed for letters without obtaining a signature. If customer is not in, you can get a neighbour to sign for it.
- When scanning a parcel make sure you do so on the customer's doorstep as there is GPS on the PDA.
- Do some lead spotting to earn vouchers/points. Check out MyRoyalMail - Watch and Win.
- Read this form - it has been useful to me.
- If someone is unable to sign for a parcel due to disability/illness, I think you can enter the code MRA (not sure if that is right tho) and then sign it yourself.
- Always double check addresses.
- Ask for all of the dockets including neighbour cards and misdelivery cards.
- Ask for a PDA holder/holster. Makes life so much easier as it is a nightmare trying to hold the PDA in your hand as well as bundles of letters.

Not quite - never sign for anything yourself!! From the old style PDA manual in the signature box...

MAR (Marked as received) is if the individual receiving the item can make a 'mark' and not an actual signature.
DWS (Delivered without signature) is if the individual is unable to sign or make a 'mark'.

Mind you the crap design of the PDA's means that no-ones signature looks anything like their actual signature, don't you just love it when the stylus attachment
catches the screen and makes a straight diagonal line across the screen!!
