Royal Mail are concerned that there could be heavy deliveries in the final run-up to the election

Had 600 labour party leaflets addressed today and it didn't come sorted in order or machine sorted. Not good enough as Royal Mail need to cut down wasting time on throwing it out as we will need them to deliver it.

We have had all early morning sorting cancelled as well.Was funny listening to the dim say to his Lino "is this all the full timers we have!".

They might not have been runable on a CSS, were they flimsy? In anycase I think that they might be counting all the election stuff in MCs, so none of it will be run on machines, except maybe the postal vote forms

Why these machines can't sort it ? is it because the leaflet isn't suitable or the machine isn't suitable ?

Flimsy letters jam in the machines too easily, also any shiny card letters get rejected by CSS machines on 2nd passes

So they should be rejected. How hard can it be for Royal Mail to stipulate size and weight ? Week after week we get flimsy door to doors that rip or turn to pulp in wet weather. Poll cards are a nightmare to separate and the ink runs when they get wet. We've had ROUND door to doors and last week an otherwise decent leaflet had a Penguin sticking up. Very few penguins were still attached when they went through the doors. I had a load of penguin heads in my bag when I got back.

Yes they want it classed as part of the normal workload, so wouldn't generate any extra payment for delivery, you just get paid for your hours worked.

Had yours been run through a machine? It seems like any election postings aren't going anywhere near the machines in MCs, but are essentially being sent as manual direct to DOs
