POSTIES at five Bedfordshire delivery offices walked out in an unofficial strike on Monday - over the suspension of two union reps.
The workers in Bedfordshire, along with those at four Buckinghamshire offices, marched for the doors after charges of misconduct were laid at the feet of two Communication Workers Union (CWU) representatives in connection with overtime pay.
The 24-hour strike affected delivery offices in Bletchley, Brinklow, Kiln Farm, Dunstable, Leagrave, Luton, Bedford, Newport Pagnell and Leighton Buzzard.
The CWU Eastern representative, Paul Moffatt: "A good 900 people or more across the area stood down from their roles on Monday after not agreeing with the charges put against two union reps.
"The suspension left the branch with no senior representation and the members said they would not stand for this and stepped down from their labour in support."
A Royal Mail spokeswoman said at the time of the action: "Royal Mail is disappointed that unballoted industrial action has taken place at several delivery offices.
"We sincerely apologise to customers in these areas for any disruption to their mail services. We are doing all we can to minimise this disruption and encourage our staff to come back to work."
The Royal Mail has been working with CWU to resolve the issues and the suspensions were lifted after the strike.
Paul Moffatt told BoS: "We have been in long discussions with Royal Mail and as a result the suspensions have been lifted.
"The allegations remain pending a review of the cases but so far they are back at work.
He added: "The action clearly pushed Royal Mail to get back around the table to discuss this case and the action of those in nine branches shows the solidarity of membership is second to none."
The cases of the two individuals under investigation will be subject to weekly reviews.
