Lighten the Load Booklet
Is this new booklet the `Gospel` or is it just a a set of guidelines? One of my work colleagues was told by a DOM, that it was just a set of CWU recommendations? is this the case or is it the `BIBLE`? by which we should adhere? Therefore is it binding on Royal Mail.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Lighten the Load Booklet
The small booklet is as it says what it is - a CWU Safe Working on Delivery Guide - which in the course of your duties will ultimately help you to collect, sort and delivery safely.alanrmc wrote:Is this new booklet the `Gospel` or is it just a a set of guidelines? The purpose of the Guide is to help ensure the risks to health and safety on Delivery work are properly controlled and to achieve a reduction in accidents at work, stress and ill health within Royal Mail Letters Delivery in order that fewer numbers of members get hurt as they go about their daily business and can perform their walk more effectively.
It ain't the BIBLE the BIBLE as you refer is the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
No matter what spin any DOM put on any health and safety proceedings they ultimately are responsible for the health and safety of their own workforce period.
Follow the Guidelines and make sure you play your part by taking the safety rules seriously and not taking any chances with your health.
Finally, if you are in any doubt just remember this simple fact - Royal Mail's Safety Record is 4 times worse than the Transport Industry.

Be careful!
If you don't follow the Health and Safety rules including the ones in that booklet. RM will try to use that against you, if you are unfortunate enough to suffer an injury!

Re: Lighten the Load Booklet
This booklet is not just full of recomendations but National agreements for example pouch weights, max delivery span, trolley weights, Priority Services maximum on a walk(8 per day) which our Dom has taken note of and puts any more on to vans and bag weights, along with all those other bits and bobs in the booklet which we should all be sticking to.A very handy bit of info for a postperson to have on them selves around the office and one which all Doms will not be happy to see.Stick your copy on your frame for guidance.alanrmc wrote:Is this new booklet the `Gospel` or is it just a a set of guidelines?
