"Ownership of a delivery route given back to the postman or woman".
So what does that mean, they can't move us off the route we've been on the last few years ?

Apart from when ''operational needs'' deem it necessary i.e. any time at all!

I thought once people retired, their walks became "free" for lapsing / absorbtion / to be done by reserves so there is no duty holder. I thought it was Moyas vision to have floating staff able to do any walk?

no it means your banded with say 3-4 other individuals and when they pull a sickie or go on holiday you your 3 mates have to cover there duty unpaid
No I'm positive that it means that you and your mates will be able to give each other as much overtime as you think you need. 10, 20, 30 hours a week. The sky's the limit.
In fact, since you own the walk, you'll be able to sublet it out to some desperate casual, pay ' em £6 an hour, and pocket the rest.
Get ready to retire that mortgage. And - never mind the Brexit - start on that retirement villa in Spain. The era of the blank cheque has arrived.

No, it states "Ownership of a delivery route [singular] given back to the postman or woman [singular]".
So will it be just like abroad, all pre-sorted, dropped off at our house, delivered in our own car with our own fuel and any sickness or holiday is our problem, not Royal Mails ?

But those at the top are in control of the purse strings, and everything else.

But it says "given back" - assuming a return to a previous situation - like when we worked 6 days a week?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
I've only just gotten round to reading this but seriously even the most hardened union man has to think asking for a shorter working week AND a pay rise is utterly ridiculous and makes them look naive beyond belief? Do they know what they are doing?

Yes in my opinion they do, no point in negotiating from a weakness. Especially with the current round have you seen what RM have put on the table, the Union have to counter that and giving up on a pay rise without a concession from the other side is a recipe for a rollover.
Basically, the pay rise has to be looked at as a part of the whole, not just a single issue all by itself. For once the CWU are playing hardball, good on them I say.
