Monday, 10 April: 4-hour shift. Me and five RM emplyees. All six sent for 15-minute teas break. (They get paid for the break, I donot as an Angard employee.)
No otther break yet Angard still deduct the fukll 30 minutes for unpaid meal break.
Week beffre, Gatwick RMC sent home all Angard staff at precisely 21:25 so as not to have to payu the 1/4 hour to 21:30.
With at leat 30 in the building, that must have saved them 7.5 hours pay.
It's pathetic
I love the work as a retired person and the hours suit me but the practices at Gatwick RMC seem designed to alienate ANgard staff.
Never mind, the agency are recruiting continuously, so there will be more mugs along in a while.
I am really thinking of giving it all up as it is so depressing the way the 'management' conduct these things.

Get onto angard about the deductions. They only pay what they are told to so the 30 min. break has been put down by a RM manager. If sent home at 21.25 they can't pay you to 21.15 because you have worked ten minutes more. If RM claim it's in lieu of a break they can't do that as you are not allowed to have your break at the end of a shift.
There is no consistency between mail centres for breaks. Where I work there is no break deduction up to 4.25 hours and a 30 min deduction if shift is longer than that. The shorter shifts it's down to the manager if you get a break. If you query the break deductions with angard ask them what your break entitlement officially is at your mail centre.

Angard clearly state unpaid breaks on their website and in the contract. I queried the unpaid breaks when I first qualified for AWR and as is the Angard way they completely ignored the email I sent. I've been told verbally by Angard that the break element is built into the higher hourly rate but without a breakdown of the hourly rate into it's constituent parts it's impossible to say if that's true or not. Why bother having unpaid breaks unless it saves money?Don't be fooled that deduction of breaks is solely down to RM as Angard are well aware that this happens and choose not to pay them anyway.
ACAS may be the people to contact regarding the AWR compliance of the breaks.

Last night's gem at Gatwick RMC was to only give 15 minute break, 30 min after arriving(!) and then to tack the remainder to the end of the shift by saying I could leave 15 minutes early
I'm sure that the latter is illegal.
Is there any way of curtailing the section Managers' behaviour like this without getting barred?
