its got nothing to do with sour grapes or being asses , its about doing the job as the cwu want you to do it , start on time , use methods and take breaks , which means it stops r/m taking more dutys and hours out the office and would protect jobs and create more if these selfish people did so , and by the way it does affect the ones doing it right when it comes to lapsing and they TRY to give everybody it not just them finishing well before there time. so yes it does make a difference , try find another job where you are still on pay while sat at home or where ever.Judgee wrote:Why are people so obsessed with what time their workmates finish? I have done delivery - about 9 years in total. My current indoor role is no more or less physical than delivery.fishtank wrote:Mezza, as usual you're misunderstanding the definition of fair.
You argue that it isn't fair that you seem to work more hours than some of the delivery staff but that's nothing to do with fairness. They have a designated workload which according to the tools should take them a full work day to complete. Are you arguing that this workload should be increased despite the tools because some of them can complete it within those hours? Or ar you saying that they should be made to stand around until their finish time?
I'm not arguing this at all - i'm simply stating a fact. I cannot ever remember when there has been nothing left to be done in the office when staff are going home.
I have been sent out on delivery when apparently we were under staffed - yet many delivery staff were going home before i had even left to start the delivery at around 11.30-12pm.
I don't think it's right for staff to stay till their finish time if there is nothing to do - but that will never be the case.
What do you do if you've completed your workload early, do you volunteer for more work? Is your workload so great that you can't complete it on time?
That's never going to happen. I book packets back into the callers till it's the end of my duty. I am also responsible for ensuring all PDA's are docked correctly, CLOD pouches are put to frames for next day, keys and log books are put away. There are always more packets left to book in and many more come back the next day. I have ensured my duty is full in order to protect it as best i can.
It's just as valid or invalid depending on point of view for a member of the delivery staff to question why you get the same pay for doing far less physical "work". In most industries admin staff are paid far less than those who do the physical graft.

Should we cut your wages because you don't have to hold on to pee or drink? Because you can stay in a nice cosy office whilst deliveries go out in the freezing cold or baking heat?
Personally I say good luck to you because its none of my business and whether or not you have it cushy doesn't effect my day one bit does it?! But you carry on moaning about how unfair it is because everybody needs a hobby!
All staff should have access to toilets and refreshments. The details should be in your walk log. If these facilities are not available on your delivery then your perfectly entitled to return to your office to use the facilities.
Yes i can make a cuppa and don't have to worry too much about the toilet. Oh lucky me.
My cosy office got to 100 degrees last summer - cosy it was not !
The heating turns itself off at 9.30 as that's the time all the delivery staff are normally gone by - not so cosy in the winter either.

You hit the nail on the head. The problem is there are too many selfish people who look after themselves and nobody else. In my office people rush about like lunatics and cut corners to finish early only to moan about lapsing and hours being cut. It is as if they cannot see a correlation between their actions and the constant cost cutting.worktotime wrote:its got nothing to do with sour grapes or being asses , its about doing the job as the cwu want you to do it , start on time , use methods and take breaks , which means it stops r/m taking more dutys and hours out the office and would protect jobs and create more if these selfish people did so , and by the way it does affect the ones doing it right when it comes to lapsing and they TRY to give everybody it not just them finishing well before there time. so yes it does make a difference , try find another job where you are still on pay while sat at home or where ever.Judgee wrote:Why are people so obsessed with what time their workmates finish? Oh for christs sake it makes no difference they would remove jobs even if we all finished on time have you not worked that out yet!worktotime wrote:its got nothing to do with sour grapes or being asses , its about doing the job as the cwu want you to do it , start on time , use methods and take breaks , which means it stops r/m taking more dutys and hours out the office and would protect jobs and create more if these selfish people did so , and by the way it does affect the ones doing it right when it comes to lapsing and they TRY to give everybody it not just them finishing well before there time. so yes it does make a difference , try find another job where you are still on pay while sat at home or where ever.Judgee wrote:Why are people so obsessed with what time their workmates finish? So what if they give lapsing to everybody if you work to your time as I keep saying over and over and over how does it affect you? You finish at your finish time, it doesn't matter if they give you three walks to do it makes no difference if you finish at the same time every day does it????
Doing D2Ds for nothing was supposed to save jobs did it do so? Did it b@llocks!
RM have long since had a divide and conquer policy and they have perfected it to a tee because they know people like you will blame your co-workers because you are too blinkered to see the wood for the trees!

No they don't all have access to toilets and refreshments, I guess you're a little out of touch in that respect and what if your walk is 30 minutes a way and you have a touch of the squitts? Yes it is lucky you you don't have to worry about the toilet but as always you are missing the point. Whatever area of RM you work it's swings and round-abouts. It is not my concern how easy or hard you have it as it is none of my business. Just as what I or anyone else who works for RM is none of your business! We could argue all day about who has the toughest job but what is the point? You have a job to do and are paid to do it. It doesn't effect me if you finish your job half an hour early I still get paid the same so why should I care. If I finish early you get paid the same so why should you care?Mezza wrote:Judgee wrote:Indeed FT, you could argue that due the fact that Indoor staff have full access to toilets and canteen/refreshments that they have it better than Delivery staff. Some people have real problems to worry about. I'll leave worrying about what everybody else gets paid to people with nothing better to worry about!
Enough of going round in circles, enjoy your moaning I hope it helps!

No they wouldn't. If an office stuck together and did the job as close to the book as possible, then RM would have to concede defeat and would likely end up putting hours into the office as walks likely wouldn't be completing.Judgee wrote:Oh for christs sake it makes no difference they would remove jobs even if we all finished on time have you not worked that out yet!worktotime wrote:its got nothing to do with sour grapes or being asses , its about doing the job as the cwu want you to do it , start on time , use methods and take breaks , which means it stops r/m taking more dutys and hours out the office and would protect jobs and create more if these selfish people did so , and by the way it does affect the ones doing it right when it comes to lapsing and they TRY to give everybody it not just them finishing well before there time. so yes it does make a difference , try find another job where you are still on pay while sat at home or where ever.Judgee wrote:Why are people so obsessed with what time their workmates finish? Runners kill the job because they come in early work for free, cut corners outside, finish before their time, and make it obvious more work can be absorbed.

Norm, we are understaffed in our office by 10 people. Walks fail every day, sometimes they won't go out for 2 or 3 days. RM no longer care if walks get completed on time or at all. Sticking together is all well and good if you have something to bargain with, we no longer have that luxury. You are living in the stone age!

to be honest I don't give a s**t what time or what joe bloggs does but I do when it affects me . its funny because these selfish people are the first to go crying to the rep and blame the cwu when the dim wants to give them more work .Judgee wrote:Oh for christs sake it makes no difference they would remove jobs even if we all finished on time have you not worked that out yet!worktotime wrote:its got nothing to do with sour grapes or being asses , its about doing the job as the cwu want you to do it , start on time , use methods and take breaks , which means it stops r/m taking more dutys and hours out the office and would protect jobs and create more if these selfish people did so , and by the way it does affect the ones doing it right when it comes to lapsing and they TRY to give everybody it not just them finishing well before there time. so yes it does make a difference , try find another job where you are still on pay while sat at home or where ever.Judgee wrote:Why are people so obsessed with what time their workmates finish? The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

But it doesn't affect you so why moan? You also cannot justifiably label them selfish if you have no idea why they are flying around. There may be various reasons why they need to get home early, picking up kids from school, caring for a parent or loved one, etc. But yet again this is not your concern nor your business is it!
