Anybody worked a Sunday and had a cut in their usual hourly rate in the last couple of weeks? I've always been paid the same rate on Sundays regardless of the start or finish time of the shift, has anyone been paid variable rates like you get Mon-Sat for early/late shifts? I've been told it's due to being paid at no shift rate but for the last three years I've always been paid at a 'late' rate.
Any RM staff who's duty includes a Sunday (not o/t) reading this post do you have a fixed rate of pay on a Sunday? I had a look at the pay rates pdf file in downloads which gives the Sunday allowances but it's not clear to me whether start/finish times regarding pay rates make any difference on a Sunday as it would on a weekday.

There is no rate cut, it must be a mistake on their part.

Sunday pay rate cut.
I was sent a list of Sunday rates for earlies, lates etc. by angard to explain why I had been paid at the lower rate that I had queried, saying it was correct. I'm now waiting for a reply as to why it is a lower rate than the 'late' rate normally paid for Sunday work for the last three years until two weeks ago. I've always assumed there is one single rate on a Sunday. All the people who have worked for the last two weekends have had this lower rate paid, it's not just me.There is no rate cut, it must be a mistake on their part.

Just logged in for this week's payslip and been paid at the evening rate for last Sunday when I finished later than usual. This confirms angard have changed from paying a fixed rate on a Sunday at my mail centre to a variable rate the same as you get Mon-Sat depending on start/finish times. It's effectively a pay cut as most Sunday shifts will be paid at the day rate which for me is a cut of £1.26 an hour. I don't know how other mail centres calculate their rates for Sundays but anybody who does Sunday shifts should check their wages to see if they are also affected.

Heard back from Angard and they only pay what they are told to so the change has been made by Royal Mail. At least now I know who to check with to see if it is deliberate or somebody else has started doing the time sheets incorrectly.

I'm not sure if it varies between mail centres, but I have always been under the impression that Sunday rate is dependent on the shift/finish time, in the same way that the weekday rate is. I have regularly asked Angard to send me the rate card (as I moved up the grades) and the Sunday has always had several different rates listed.
I've always finished before 8pm so I was always paid the day/no shift rate, except for one nightshift which was paid at the higher rate, and one recent occasion when I worked until 8pm, which was paid at evening rate.
I obviously don't know exactly what Sunday shifts you have been working, tabact, but your pay rate should have always reflected the rate quoted for your finish time.

Thanks for the replies, It confirms it's a local problem but other mail centres could be affected which is why I posted.
Si-Co we've always been paid late rate at weekends at my MC regardless of finish time on shifts but have now been changed to being paid according to the rate card hence the lower rates we are now getting. RM were unaware of the change when I spoke to them but are looking into it. It may be a case of arguing it's custom and practice that we get the higher late rate although it would be the day rate if using angards rate card.
