Why is that ?.
Because all I can see is members debating pro's & con's of one of rm proposals to negotiate over.
All the rest seem to be universally turned down by people on here.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

There's a rumour circulating around our office that DSMs will lose their jobs through redundancy. Can anyone confirm? :hmmmm

In terms of what my proposal is : well when you go in negotiations you don't compromise at the first set of proposals and I would reject the following

No cuts to legacy payments ,RRIS , TPM

No to monthly pay

No to cuts to sick pay

No to cuts to new starters terms and conditions

No to changes to the attendance procedure or MTSF or the IR framework including removal of Area Reps

I would be up for a range of trails including some of our ideas and not just Royal Mail's strategy. We can look at effirency and we can look at capturing more of the same day next day parcels market based on incentivising those who would volunteer later starts.

Remember they have put three options on the table

Stay the same and manage decline

Move to later delivery and cut costs

Or buy cheaper parcel companies and get them to do the profitable part of the Mail buy paying those less.

We have to first force them to change the above vision and we don't do that by accepting their slash and burn policy.
Im with you on this , monthly pay I could suck that up at a push but I can see why others wouldn't and as for this teamworking baloney no way in hell !!

I take it the 'WIN A CAR' raffle idea to combat sick leave hasn't worked then. Has anyone got figures for RMG sick leave.

Agreed, time to sack the bosses and move to modern things and management and look after the workers and grow the business.

sorry all this has come about due to regulation making the letters side of the business completely unprofitable. Once other companies were allowed to take the biggest profit margin sections of the business this company was doomed, and the service gets worse and worse for the customer with no better value than they were getting when their mail dropped on their matt at 7.30am. Regulator has a lot to answer for.

If this is true why don't R.M be brave and say they can no longer keep to the uso ?

Why is it we're now a private company tet were the only ones who have to deliver to every address daily , tnt, ups none of them have to.

Don't know if it was this thread where it was mentioned that RM want to push last acceptance back a couple of hours and push duties back a couple of hours but for DO staff in practice that would be pushed back 3 hours as the lorries to DOs would get caught in traffic, DO staff would in effect all be 9-5 for full time

Yes it is true. Royal Mail announced this last Friday that DSMs are going and being replaced with an Operational Manager. This will be about 30% cut in managers at DSM Level. The new Operational managers will have between 20 to 30 offices to oversea.

Apparently DOMs have asked for more control for their own offices without being micro managed. Personally I think it will be disaster.

It is due to come in around June but talks are on going with Unite.

Whilst DSA had a massive impact on Royal Mail's revenue , the reality is that letters and flats have been declining from the highs of 23 billion letters in 2007 to 13 billion in 2016. Whilst there is less staff than in 2007 and many OPGs will be handling individually more letters as a result of the job cuts and the increase in part time working the fact is Royal Mail cost per item has gone up from 5p in 2007 to 12 pence in 2016.

The parcel market is competitive and with most of our competitors offering a cheaper service and a next day service which Royal Mail don't parcels have flatlined and in some areas reduced. The parcels which have increased are those larger than shoe box size. Remember when someone delivers letters and parcels together it costs around 24 pence and is cost effective if parcels are delivered on their own it cost a £1 .

No company including Royal Mail will come out and say we can't afford the USO because it would be Royal Mail's equivalent of the Volkswagen and would wipe millions of the share price. Instead it is attempting to cut costs via pensions and our terms and conditions whilst trying to capture the parcel market which results in later starts.

GB the point I was attempting to make is when Royal Mail throw the kitchen sink at the CWU on what they want to take away , you don't start compromising and accepting what your willing to give up.

Remember until pensions is resolved it is all shadow boxing. Remember pensions will either deliver the biggest savings they Royal Mail could ever have asked or if they accept the union's position it could cost them.

Royal Mail have as predicted wanted to put everything on the table knowing that this would not be acceptable to the CWU.

At the moment Royal Mail have already compromised and improved their offer on their DC scheme and a pension lump sum. This is not good enough for the union but you can see without us accepting anything we have forced them to an improvement.

There will not be an agreement until the pension issue is either resolved or we are in dispute. Now is not the time for conceding on anything, now is the time to put the pressure on Royal Mail and support the CWU. You do not do that by saying your willing to give up 61 million pounds from the wage bill based on TPM , RRIS , Resrved Rights and Legacy money being given up.
