Which new machines?

Packet ones are already rolling out.

Compact flat sorter at Exeter rolling to other small MC sites before too long too.

What about XMS machines? If they intend on having all flats and letters sequenced together they'll need to install XMS machines as well to replace any CFC/iLSM/IMPs

Some people on here have been wittering on about XMS for years. None have been deployed. To get anywhere worthwhile with sequencing flat/letters together you'd need what, 8+ XMS per MC plus CSS hubs fitting a few in too. Can you see that happening?

Is there dates out there when certain MC gets the packet machines? What impact on jobs?.

These machines have only recently been tested for a year or so have they not ?

Although RM would like to sequence flats and letters together - they don't have to

Why would you need 8+ machines in one MC ? - i don't think so

We have 4 iLSMs - why would you need 8+ XMS machines ?

The new CELLLS machines of which one is in Exeter , there will be another 16 deployed where there is no Tops 2000 machines. They will walk sort flats and manual letters.

Part of what Royal Mail want to trial in Mail centres is to move the processing window 2 hours back and have just one final later dispatch. They want to change the normal early , late and night duties patterns and have a significant number of 20:00 - 04:00 duties.

They want to as part of Hub Optimisation remove collections performed from a Mail centre and any under the roof activity and have this performed from the Hub.

The XMS machines would replace any CFCs, iLSMs and IMPs, combine with CLLS and retrofitted CSS machines to sequence flats and letters together, allowing RM to get rid of most indoor hours in DOs

Not going to happen, you would fail time sensitive deliveries and 9am specials

Remember they want heavy and light days ! In terms of specials they will still be done the rest of the work will be moved backwards 2 hours is Royal Mail's proposal and you need to understand that !

No chance, all MCs are always short on staff as it is, and for a MC to do them they'd probably need to be loaned at least one small van by DOs
