The CWU have been asking people to do that for years but it's ignored by the majority :evil/mad
clocking in and out would cure all the runners they get paid for what they do up to there finish time . .
But according to dingos other post they want to assign a workload each day to fill your hours based on data capturing and monitoring. So if a slower postie can't get it done in the contracted hours they will just be told they aren't up to the agreed speed and will no doubt provide PDA data to show the pace they are delivering at. I don't think it's just runners that are going to be hit with changes if royal mail manage to get their proposals in.

I ain't so sure. Remenber a couple of weeks ago on the WTL they were on about Hermes. Well they want us like that.
It's a race to the bottom.

We have been warned off people like Dingo what RM are thinking. But reading that it's a lot lot worse.

Interesting times ahead but all the wrong reasons.

There is a Chinese Curse that came from a poem containing these 2 lines:

Truly, better be a dog in days of peace
Than a human in times of war!

The Curse: May you live in interesting times.

Royal Mail's proposals in the current pay , pensions and change strategy negotiations

A few observations from the Briefing today !

Royal Mail want to cut costs , the only part of Royal Mail which is making money is GLS.

In 2007 Royal Mail delivered 23 billion letters costing 5 pence

In 2016 Royal Mail delivered 13 billion letters at 12 pence per item

They expect in 10 years letters will be 7 billion and the cost per item will be 22 pence.

Parcels traffic below shoe boxed has flatlined , parcel traffic above shoe box size has grown as has tracked.

What have Royal Mail put on the table

Removal of Area Reps

RRIS removed unless the rentention or recruitment in an area demands and they don't think it does. Those being paid RRIS have a range from £5 to £35

Removal of TPM , PHG , LGV , Election payments , Driving allowance , Dawn payments and any legacy bonus money

Monthly pay

Royal Mail automatically want to issue stage 1 & 2s warning.

Apart from the proposal to not pay sick leave for first 3 days they will only pay full sick pay for a maximum 8 weeks and half pay for a maximum of 8 weeks. This is only for people who have been employed for more than 4 years. For employees who have less than 4 years their sick leave is less.

For a new starts Royal Mail want to reduce from 90% of the pay rate to 80. They will not pay these shift allowances and only them single rate of overtime. They will no longer go to the full rate after 18 months up to 3 years.

In terms of the Strategy

It is the multiple buddle delivery model where the first 90% of sequencing will not be sorted into the frame and will mean later starts.

They also want Team working so you cover sick leave , rest days , annual leave within your team with no overtime .

They want too have you work more hours at christmas and less hours in the summer.

Plus they want to introduce a concept called heavy and light days. So say on a Monday , Weds and Friday you will be deliver all the traffic and on a Tuesday , Thursday and Saturday you will only deliver 1st Class and parcels which will cut jobs as the only way a full timer can keep a job if they do two deliveries on the lighter day.

There are various other things such as data capture , MTSF cuts etc which are all further attacks on our conditions.

The line in the sand has been drawn your have to decide whether you support your union or you accept Royal Mail's proposals ?

Am I reading that right. All new starts will get less pay and holidays for first 3 years.
And with all the other stuff, basically all new starters from now will be well and truly shafted.
You would be very selfish indeed to vote for any of that crap, even with a bung imo.

removal of area reps is not a bad thing, they do very little, never support the reps & are in the pockets of the area management for their own benefit, this is widely agreed by most reps & members.
Im afraid the cwu should have been stronger along time ago & had the members out on strike, they just were happy to glide along creaming the subs off the poor members who were being bullied & worked to into early graves!
The cwu was too busy supporting that idiot ‎Jeremy Corbyn running around telling us how important it is for us too take refugees from syria!!
The poor members have nowhere to turn now, the union has no strength & the royal mail knows this so its going for the kill, all i can say is today is as good as its going to get, because everyday its going to get that bit worse until there is a complete 2 tier workforce & a weak membership & jobs will be gone.

It is called flexibility. Royal Mail want to change the normal early , late and night shift in a Mail centre. They want more 20:00 - 0400 to cope with the later delivery work arrivals. And yes they want TPM removed full stop

This makes a sorry read. Savings for savings' sake. Not fiscally necessary, but a showpiece deal RM's Board will puff its chest out after and boast to the big shareholders about. In my experience a job I found barely tolerable at times will become intolerable for many. If they want a long-term strategy to reduce sickness and disability then maybe a one-off giant restructure will be prudent, along the lines of a deal to offer ER/EVR to all 55+'s and younger long-term sick OPGs. Let those who are ruined by the job go now, in one hit and recruit replacements with a better probation strategy in place so they don't mostly leave.

I say this because I know there are a large number who would jump at the chance to go early if it were financially prudent for them - once when our office announced a possibility on the tannoy of some EVRs the dust cloud and fluttering paper which ensued as the stampede took place was almost comical, although it never happened in the end due to natural leavers.

It's completely obvious the 39hr. FT or 35hr. if it transpires is going to become rarer as time goes on and they see it as preferable to employ more OPG's on shorter contracts - safety in numbers to increase 'flexibility' when people are off or heavy periods like Christmas but the aggregate contract hours for all OPGs will be less overall. And when these shorter-hours contracts do OT it's cheaper up to 39 hours unlike paying FTs to exceed 39. I just wish they'd be honest about it and just give the 55+ FTs opportunity to go - if they choose.

Rubbish.

If you have a bad area rep then what you should do is summon up the balls to stand yourself at the next elections - thereby providing us all, I am sure, with the sterling representation that we all require.
What you don't do is get rid of area reps altogether. Throwing the baby out with the bath water. What the union reps need is more time to engage with members - not less.

Not even sure that RM are in a position to dictate this anyhow - its our union.

FWIW my area rep is excellent.
