Having read the agreement in full, noted the contradictions within it, re flexibility, let alone the pensions issue, plus the different interpretation that both sides are putting on the document, even after a week's worht of clarification talks , and the fact that we have not been permitted a vote (to date) on start time changes, I have come to the conclusion that this is a bad deal. A very bad deal indeed. My fears were raised, after the sombre mood comments regarding the CWU Postal Executive discussion, very soon after, and the fact that we have not been allowed to know any of the details until THIS week.

A very bad 'deal' and hayes and ward should be ashamed of what they haven't achieved for us. We're the ones who supported their decisions by walking out and supporting the strikes only for them to stab us in the back!!

Can anybody tell me when last an exec recommendation was voted down on a major issue ? I think it'll be like the way forward, it'll go but not by much.
Decoupling the pensions issue is a ploy by RM because they've realised the strength of feeling on this point alone but the bottom line is you're going to get screwed.
The bosses union agreed to the pensions proposal as it stood and they're in the same scheme so what chance is there of the CWU changing anything for us ?
If we accept that we'll have to retire at 65 to get the same benefits as if we retired at 60 as things stand, take your pension at 60 under RM's current proposals and it'll be actuarily reduced from April 2010.

A deal is normally two or more parties sharing a mutually beneficial position. Can anyone tell me what benefits an OPG gets from this deal (excepting pay, which was already a done deal)?
Also rumour has it that 3 Assistant Secretaries refused to have their names associated with the deal. Why?

Lordy! I'm really 50/50 on it - If Adolf and Goebbels fell on there swords then I'd def vote yes, but these guys hold no currency with me and should leave for the sake of us, RM and (god forbid) the customers.

The thing is when other unions are in dispute take a look at their leaders who seem to be in the media every second day...I could name names but you know who they are...Take a look at our leadership. E ven when they got a deal you have to look under a stone to find them.

Both these two bumbling idiots need to save us from the embarrassment of voting them out,they have shown us a severe lack of respect offering us this heep of crap.
They have disrespected us more then any manager ever could.
We gave our full and strong support to get Leighton and Crozier over a barrel, we had them on the back foot and ward and hayes ran like squealing pigs and accepted an offer that is an insult to every striking postie in the country.

I feel angry,very angry that we should even consider this nonsense, and urge everyone on here to speak to their colleagues and vote this out and send the chuckle brothers back to the negotiation table immediately

I dont think the deal is so bad and will vote yes. Its being recommended by most of the top people in the union after all. Certainly I cant afford to lose any more money when there isnt much chance of a better deal even after more strikes
