Parcelforce Worldwide large parcels accepted through the Post Office from next week

Parcelforce Worldwide has announced that from next week its customers will be able to send their large parcels through the Post Office network across the UK.

In a notice posted on myroyalmail.com today (20 March), Parcelforce said that it will roll out its express48large product to the Post Office from next Monday (27 March).

Parcels can be sized up to 2.5m in length or 5m length and girth combined. The individual parcel limit is up to 30kg.

As Post&Parcel reported earlier this month, Parcelforce is building up additional capacity to handle and deliver larger parcels.

“The move is in response to customer feedback that shows increasing demand for carriers who are able to handle larger parcels; and some delivery operators reducing the maximum size they will accept into their network,” said Parcelforce.

“The feedback also showed that a lack of suitable carriers has led to some retailers restricting the products they sell online, as they struggle to find a carrier to deliver larger items. Quality of service across the sector was also thought to be below expectation for larger parcels than for standard sized parcels.”

Jesus! so where are the post office's going to store these while they wait for pick up lol, some of them you couldn't swing a cat! i regularly collect 48s from PO on collection because they haven't picked them up, looks like a lot of them are going to get left, i only have a Doblo lol

As a lot of these are two man handling how are they going to get loaded into the vans?

The sub-postmaster needs the space so helps the Parcel Force driver with the "two man" lift, returns two minutes later and finds his Post Office has been robbed.

Didn't Parcelforce buy the old City Link Depot next door to the National Hub at Coventry. Did hear they are using that as the large parcel sorting centre.

Love to see that in practice.
When we take our 739's to the PO,we get "if it don't fit through the hatch,we can't accept it"
Got no chance with 48 large

We are expected to lift upto 30kg,anything over its assisted handling. Our 7.5t vehicles dont have tail lifts. If its too heavy it stays where it is....no help,no parcel.....like the 64kg garden set from B&Q I had the other day.
